At a special event at SIGGRAPH 2017, Dell revealed the Precision 5520 mobile workstation, commemorating 20 years of Dell Precision workstations.
Crafted in a beautiful brushed aluminum finish, the Dell Precision 5520 mobile workstation is according to Dell the thinnest and lightest 15-inch mobile workstation on the market. The laptop features a thickness of just 0.66-inches at its thickest point and a weight of just under 4lbs for the fully loaded unit.
What do you get in such a compact package? Well, you get a choice between the Intel Core i7-7820HQ or the Intel Xeon E3-1505M v6, up to 32GB of DDR4, Nvidia Quadro M1200 graphics and up to 1TB M.2 PCIe [...]
Back at E3 2017, Microsoft announced several updates coming for Minecraft. Among them is the Better Together update, which unifies Windows, Android and Xbox versions of Minecraft into one edition for true cross-platform play.
Today, Microsoft is releasing the beta for the Windows and Android Minecraft players with the Xbox One beta coming in the following days. Microsoft says this is to help stress-test and find any bugs associated with the new update, and the reward for gamers is of course access to cross-platform play and all the new features associated with the update.
Some of the updated features includes ravines, fireworks, armor stands, recipe book, new [...]
Gaming peripherals maker, Bloody Gaming, had a fairly sizable presence at E3 2017, so we stopped by to take a quick look at a few of their upcoming products.
Bloody B975 Gaming Keyboard
Arriving at the booth, I was quickly directed to the Bloody B975 gaming keyboard, the newest Bloody gaming keyboard using LK (Light Strike) Libra optical infrared switches. For those unfamiliar, Light Strike switches are new infrared laser based switches which are superior in performance and durability over traditional mechanical switches. This is due to its lack of metal contact leaves and instead when the key is depressed, a plate blocks [...]
We had the pleasure of hanging out with gaming peripherals maker Cougar recently at E3 2017 to check out some of their latest and greatest gaming keyboards.
Cougar Puri TKL
The latest and what I think is the greatest is the Cougar Puri TKL. The Cougar Puri TKL is a compact, Tenkeyless keyboard for eSports gamers who want a smaller, more portable gaming keyboard to take on the go. The Cougar Puri TKL looked and felt high quality and Cougar displayed the keyboard with even more durable metal keycaps installed on the arrow keys and the gaming zone (WASD keys).
Cougar was also happy to report that they’re only using the highest [...]
There’s no argument that Alienware’s Area 51 Gaming PC is an excellent platform for AMD’s upcoming Ryzen Threadripper debut, but it seemed odd that AMD would make Alienware the initial exclusive big box retailer to carry the processor yet allow Alienware to not be exclusive to AMD Threadripper in return. Dell’s new Inspiron 5675 Gaming Desktop may explain why.
While the Alienware Area 51 clearly took the spotlight at E3, Dell also more quietly revealed the Inspiron 5675 Gaming Desktop at the booth next door. While the Inspiron 5675 Gaming Desktop isn’t as attention grabbing as the Alienware Area 51, it’s still very [...]
Another year, another Computex Booth Babes. Over the years, many trade shows such as CES or E3 have seen significant reductions in the use of models AKA showgirls or booth babes to attract attention to their booths while other conferences such as the computer security focused RSA Conference has effectively banned booth babes completely. However, take a quick walk around the Computex Tapei show floor and it’s easy to see that the booth babe culture continues to remain strong in 2017.
This time, we’d like to credit David Chang of Yuki-no Photography and Rock Hsu of Research Images who have generously contributed to providing you with [...]
Although Logitech’s wirelessly charging mousepad was the big reveal for Logitech at E3, Logitech also made a new announcement in their headset lineup with the new mid-range G433 gaming headset.
The new Logitech G433 gaming headset is designed for those looking for a multi-purpose gaming headset that can not only perform well while gaming, but will also look good if you decide to take it on your bus ride to work. Available in Triple Black, Fire Red, and Royal Blue, the Logitech G433 features a hybrid-mesh material that Logitech claims will offer better durability and style compared to typical plastic materials and coatings.
Ask anyone who’s played a game in VR and they’ll immediately tell you that one of the biggest issues with VR today is that the headset needs to be wired in. Not only does this create a potential safety hazard, but it also significantly detracts from the experience, especially if you end up pulling your brand new $3,000 gaming laptop off the table in the heat of battle.
In order to solve this issue, DisplayLink recently demo’ed their DisplayLink XR wireless VR system which will allow gamers to use their existing HTC Vive headset, Oculus Rift and other VR headsets wirelessly.
DisplayLink’s XR system is based on Intel’s WiGig (Wireless [...]
As always, our friends at Razer had some big introductions at E3 this year with their new Razer Blade Stealth and the Razer Thresher Ultimate Gaming Headset.
Mid-2017 Razer Blade Stealth
On their systems side, Razer’s big announcement is the new Razer Blade Stealth. The biggest change for the Razer Blade Stealth is its appearance. While the traditional Razer Blade Stealth is far from being the most “gamer” looking laptop out there, it still has a hard time blending into a meeting room with its black and green color scheme. As such, Razer introduced their new Gunmetal grey color that’s a lot more boardroom friendly with its [...]
As AMD had already made all their big announcements at Computex, their presence at E3 was fairly limited to supporting their OEM partner, Alienware, which had recently announced their Area 51 Gaming PC supporting AMD’s new HEDT Ryzen Threadripper platform.
At the show, AMD brought along some of their new Threadripper CPUs to show off, giving us an opportunity to take a closer look at an early engineering sample of the massive Threadripper chip in all its glory.
Aside from the sheer size, which is due to Threadripper being essentially two Ryzen dies on a single chip, the most interesting aspect of the Threadripper chip is that AMD [...]
