Thermaltake Releases Toughpower SFX Power Supplies with Universal Compact Design

If it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t sit. Form-factor is the foremost factor in purchasing a power supply. But with the Thermaltake Toughpower SFX series 80+ Gold power supplies, maybe the decision becomes a little bit easier.

As its name suggests, the Toughpower SFX series power supply is built around the SFX form-factor. The SFX form-factor is more compact than the standard ATX form-factor, allowing them to be squeezed into tight builds like mATX or uATX. With that said, Thermaltake also includes a SFX to ATX adapter bracket so it can be used for ATX cases as well.

The 80+ Gold rated Toughpower SFX power supplies are guaranteed to operate [...]

CES 2015: Cooler Master Talks Restructuring Plans, 3D Vapor Chamber, CoolChip Partnership

2014 has been an unusually quiet year for Cooler Master. The computer component and peripheral giant who typically launches at least five to ten products every quarter hasn’t really made a whole lot of noise over the past year. As such, we were a bit curious to find out what happened to such a prominent force in the industry, so we took a quick trip to the Cooler Master CES suite to talk to Marketing Manager, Rajiv Kothari.

When we arrived at the Cooler Master suite this year, the suite was unusually clean, uncluttered, and relatively quiet. Here we met up with Rajiv, who spoke to us for a good hour about Cooler Master’s plans for the new year. As usual, [...]

OCZ Sells PSU Business to Firepower Technology for $850,000

In the aftermath of OCZ’s bankruptcy and eventual purchase by Toshiba, OCZ’s SSD business is now a Toshiba subsidiary known as OCZ Storage Solutions while OCZ’s PSU business continued to hang in the balance. Up until this point, it was unclear what Toshiba wanted to do with the OCZ PSU business, but given that Toshiba didn’t seem particularly interested in getting themselves into the PSU market, a sale of the PSU business seemed to be the most likely possibility.

In a recent filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) released by OCZ on 2/10/14 however, it seems like after Toshiba finalized the purchase of OCZ’s assets [...]

Upgrading To Haswell? Check Your Power Supply First

“Of course!” may be your immediate reaction upon reading the title. But if that were true, we wouldn’t have wrote this article. According to a recent article over at VR-Zone, the C6/C7 power saving feature that comes with Intel’s next generation processor may put your power supply’s compatibility into question.

We already know that Haswell CPUs will have lower power consumption compared to Ivy Bridge, but what we didn’t know is that some power supplies may not meet Haswell’s minimum current output requirements for when it kicks into its C6/C7 power saving state. Ivy Bridge Processors required a minimum current output of 0.5 [...]
