CES 2017: MSI Shows Off New Z270 Motherboards, X370 Ryzen Motherboards, External Thunderbolt GPU Solution

Last week at CES, MSI displayed their new batch of PC hardware for 2017. The new roster highlights include AMD Ryzen X370 motherboards and an external graphics dock.

With Kaby Lake’s launch, MSI had a full range of Z270 motherboards are also ready and on display. At the time of writing, MSI has an huge lineup of 30 boards scattered in 4 different segments.

CES 2017: EVGA Shows Off New iCX GPUs, B3 PSUs, Z270 Motherboards, Quick Disconnect Coolers

At CES 2017 we had the chance to stop by EVGA, which had a huge lineup of new products including the all-new iCX cooled GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards, Intel Z270 motherboards, a brand new lineup of budget-minded B3 power supplies, and the finished version of the quick disconnect CLC coolers we saw back at Computex last year.

CES 2017: Zotac Shows Off Mini PCs, ZBOX Graphics Dock, GTX 1080 Mini

Continuing our coverage of CES 2017, we arrive at Zotac, a company best known for manufacturing NVIDIA graphics cards. CES 2017: AMD Reveals Ryzen Chipset Details, AM4 Motherboard Partners, System Partners at AMD Event

At AMDs press event, AMD displayed a slew of motherboards based on their upcoming X370, B350 and A320 chipsets which will support AMD’s upcoming Ryzen CPUs. The motherboards on display include well known manufacturers including Asrock, ASUS, Biostar, Gigabyte, MSI, and more.

AMD’s flagship chipset is the X370 chipset which will support overclocking and dual GPU configurations. AMD’s new chipsets will also support NVMe, M.2 SATA devices, USB 3.1 Gen 1/Gen 2 and PCI-E 3.0. This finally puts AMD motherboards on the a more level playing field in comparison to Intel’s 200 series chipset.

ASUS Releases BIOS Updates for Kaby Lake, 7th Gen Intel Core Processor Support

According to a recent announcement, ASUS is launching BIOS updates for their entire lineup of Socket 1151 based motherboards to support Intel’s upcoming 7th Generation Core processors, codename Kaby Lake. Owners of ASUS Z170, H170, B150, and H110 motherboards will be able to find BIOS updates for their respective motherboards directly through the ASUS Support website.

Upcoming Gigabyte AMD AM4 Motherboard Pictures Leaked

A slew of images from two upcoming Gigabyte AMD AM4 platform motherboards were recently leaked by Korean website BodNara. These upcoming motherboards will support AMD’s AM4 socket platform which will be the primary platform for AMD’s upcoming Summit Ridge (Zen), Bristol Ridge, Raven Ridge and many future AMD CPUs/APUs.

Like previous AMD platforms, the new AM4 platform will support several different chipsets which are geared towards different market segments. Rumored AMD Zen Chipset Issue May Increase Cost for Motherboard Manufacturers

According to a recent article published by Digitimes, motherboard makers may be facing increased costs due to an issue in AMD’s upcoming motherboard chipset. Citing industry sources, Digitimes claims that the issue stems from a design flaw in the ASMedia USB 3.1 chip included in the chipset, which causes “…USB 3.1 transmission speeds drop dramatically as circuit distance increases”. As such, board makers are forced to add additional retimer, redriver, or additional USB 3.1 chips in order to make USB 3.1 function properly on the upcoming motherboards. ASMedia has denied such allegations citing that their [...]

During our stay at Computex we stopped by the Gigabyte suite and took a look at their motherboards.

The Designare series is a class of motherboards aimed at those looking for productivity, which is a very interesting step from Gigabyte. At this year’s Computex, Colorful a company known for making graphics cards, had a very interesting concept on display. This custom motherboard featuring Intel’s B150 chipset also features an integrated GTX 1070 desktop-class GPU on-board.

CES 2016: MSI Announces X99A Godlike Carbon, Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon Gaming Motherboards

MSI revealed two new additions to its premium Carbon series motherboards at CES 2016: the MSI X99A Godlike Carbon and the MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon. These new motherboards are very similar to the original X99A Godlike and Z170A Gaming Pro with the difference being a few aesthetic changes including RGB lighting which should make these boards more stylish.
