Half-Life 3 Plot Released By Series’ Lead Writer

Marc Laidlaw, a lead writer for the Half-Life series, has just posted the plot for the third instalment on his website. Hold your breath while reading, because this is the closing curtains rather than a confirmation for the game.

It seems like Dr Gordon Freeman, the protagonist of the series, has had an epic adventure to excuse his absence. The silent doctor struggled in the desperate the crusaded through time in the Borealis, invented teleportation devices, and saw his infamous rival, G-Man, snatch away Alyx Vance. Now, he’s back in a world where the resistance no longer thrived, his friends gone, and his legacy forgotten.

And here we are. I spoke of [...]

AMD Ryzen Threadripper De-Lidded, Reveals Four Dies in Epyc Fashion

Our favorite overclocker, der8auer is back again with a new video, this time de-lidding AMD’s new Ryzen Threadripper CPU.

According to the video, we can see that AMD is once again using proper solder to interface the CPU dies and the integrated heatspreader rather than the cheap thermal interface material Intel has been using on their mainstream and HEDT CPUs. This should be exciting for overclockers as they won’t need to remove the IHS on Ryzen Threadripper for overclocking.

Interestingly enough, the video also reveals another surprise. Underneath the massive headspreader is actually a four die configuration, similar to the die configuration of [...]

AMD RX Vega 3D Mark Fire Strike Benchmarks Leaked

AMD’s highly anticipated Radeon RX Vega isn’t expected to launch until AMD’s SIGGRAPH event at the end of this month, but it appears that at least one crafty individual has already gotten his hands on one of these cards an decided to leak some more 3D Mark scores to the world.

The leaker shared three runs of 3D Mark Fire Strike where the RX Vega card was able to achieve 20,949, 22,291, and 22,330. This puts the performance of the RX Vega somewhere on par with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080. This is consistent with previous leaks from the 3D Mark 11 database.

According to the leaked screenshots, the [...]

AMD’s Ryzen 5 CPUs aren’t expected to launch until April 11 so up until now, benchmarks for the Ryzen 5 series were simulated by disabling cores on the octa-core Ryzen 7 series CPUs. However, according to a recent video released by Youtube channel Santiago Santiago, we get a glimpse at Ryzen 5 1400 performance in the flesh thanks to a retailer which appears to have jumped the gun on sales of the upcoming CPU.

Review: AMD Ryzen 1700

Well, this is it ladies and gentlemen. We’ve been waiting anxiously for over a year now for AMD’s latest Processor, after the disappointment of Bulldozer the PC building scene became primarily an Intel favored one for most serious workloads. While AMD’s APUs have found a pleasant place in the budget market and the FX lineup became a decent option for gamers looking for good bang for the buck, AMD remained way behind Intel in technology for what seams like forever. That changes today. Today we will be looking at Ryzen, will it live up to the hype? Will it fall flat on it’s face?

How to Take a Screenshot on a Mac

Apple MacBook Pro (Touchbar, Late 2016)

As the designated IT person at the office, one of the most common things that happens to me is someone handing me their Mac and asking me to do stuff with it. Despite the fact that I’ve only used Windows for pretty much all my life. Case in point.

The other day, one of my colleagues needed to take a screenshot on his Macbook Pro and had no idea how to do it. As I scoffed at his pathetic computer skills telling him repeatedly to hit the Print Screen button to him not understanding a word I said, he handed me the laptop. To my realization that there was no Print Screen button on the computer… [...]
