AMD Ryzen CPU Confirmed for March, Vega and Naples in 2Q, 7nm, Zen 2 and Zen 3 on the Way

AMD’s latest earnings call was a mixed bag as revenues declined over 3Q2016 and are expected to continue to decline heading into 1Q2017. However, despite the quarterly setbacks, AMD had a positive 2016 overall with increased revenues and lower debt over the previous year.

What’s even more exciting for AMD however, is the amount of high profile product launches coming this year. During AMD’s earnings call, AMD CEO, Dr. Lisa Su confirmed that Ryzen will launch with “…widespread system and channel availability expected on day one” in early March. This confirms a previous leak that AMD will launch Ryzen during or before GDC. This is [...]

GLOBALFOUNDRIES Achieves Silicon Success On AMD Product

GLOBALFOUNDRIES announced silicon success on upcoming AMD products using its 14nm FinFET process technology. According to GLOBALFOUNDRIES, this achievement has led to the planned integration of its 14nm FinFETS into multiple upcoming AMD products.

This is good news for AMD. We’ve heard rumours that AMD’s upcoming “Zen” architecture, planned for Q4 2016 release, would be delayed due to poor 14nm FinFET yields. While GLOBALFOUNDRIES did not disclose which product was used for testing, this news at least may instil confidence in AMD’s recent statement that the development and production of Zen is on track.

Along with its Zen CPUs, [...]
