Microsoft Announces $299 VR Headsets Supporting Windows 10 Creator’s Update

Microsoft has been in the VR/AR market for quite some time with their HoloLens, but with a pricetag starting at $3,000, it’s far too expensive for the general customer.

At Microsoft’s recent press event, Microsoft is trying to change that as they’ve recently announced that they’re working with a number of hardware partners including HP, Dell, Lenovo, ASUS, and Acer to begin introducing a new line of VR headsets starting at just $299. This significantly undercuts popular VR headsets such as the HTC Vive which costs $800 and the Oculus Rift which costs $600.

Google Swordfish, Angelfish Smartwatches Could Launch 1Q2017

A couple weeks ago, Google launched an entire host of new hardware including new smartphones, a new Chromecast, a Wi-Fi router system, and a home assistant, but something curiously missing was the rumored smartwatches, based on Google’s Android Wear 2.0 platform.

If you were waiting on those smartwatches, it appears that they may be launching sometime in 1Q2017.

HTC, HP Announce Vive VR Ready Envy 750 PC Bundle

A couple weeks ago, Oculus announced a cheap $499 VR ready gaming PC in partnership with boutique PC builder CyberPowerPC and it looks like HTC is ready to fire back with a VR PC partnership of its own.

According to a recent announcement, HTC is partnering up with HP to announce a VR gaming bundle which includes the HTC Vive headset along with the HP Envy 750-415VHR PC for $1,499. Specs on the HP Envy 750-415VHR include an Intel Core i5-6400 Quad Core CPU, 8GB DDR4 memory, Radeon RX480 graphics card, and 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD. The bundle will also include two VR games which include theBlu: Encounter and The Lab.

Microsoft Expands HoloLens Augmented Reality Glasses to Six New Countries

In the up and coming world of VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality), one of the most interesting products is Microsoft’s HoloLens, Microsoft’s AR headset designed to utilize Windows Holographic platform in Windows 10.

Samsung Mass Producing 14nm Exynos 7270 SoC for Wearable Devices

Samsung recently announced that they’ve begun mass production of their new Exynos 7270 Dual Core Application Processor designed for wearable devices.

The Samsung Exynos 7270 application processor features 2x Cortex A53 ARM cores, which will be built on Samsung’s 14nm FinFET fabrication process. Samsung claims that the new process will allow the Exynos 7270 to be 20% more power efficient compared to its 28nm predecessors. Google Daydream VR Headset Expected to be Priced at $79

Google is gearing up to launch a slew of products today including the new Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones as well as the new Google Daydream VR headset.

Google first unveiled the Daydream VR headset back in May at their Google I/O developer conference. The headset is designed to work with Daydream optimized smartphones which slot into the headset to allow users to experience VR similar to Samsung’s Gear VR which works with Samsung’s flagship smartphones. According to a new article from Variety, the Daydream headset could be sold for as little as $79 which undercuts Samsung’s Gear VR headset which retails for $99.99.

Analyst Predicts Apple Watch Sales to Decrease 15%-25% in 2016

According to a new report from Business Insider, Apple’s smartwatch may be starting to lose steam.

In an investor’s note from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s smartwatch business may see a 15%-25% decline from 2015 as the introduction of the Series 2 Apple Watch and price cuts on the Series 1 Apple Watch does little to improve sales. Revised shipment numbers are down from an estimated 10-10.5 million units to 8.5-9 million units. In 2015, Apple shipped a total of 10.4 million units.
