Intel Releases Full Specifications for Core-X Series CPUs

When Intel launched their latest Core-X Series CPUs at Computex 2017, full specifications on the new Core i9 series CPUs were not available at the time. However, in a recent press release, Intel detailed their entire upcoming lineup of Core i9 series CPUs.

Of course, the official specification list isn’t new. Several weeks ago, this information was already leaked however, was not officially confirmed by Intel at the time.

The Intel Core i9 CPUs will become available beginning August 12th for the 12-core i9-7920X and September 25 for the 14-core i9-7940X, 16-core i9-7960X, and 18-core i9-7980XE. The 4-core to 10-core Intel Core X-Series CPUs [...]

AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper Makes Amazon’s Bestsellers List as Pre-Orders Open

Back in February when AMD launched their Ryzen 7 series CPUs, they were able to easily snag several of the top spots on the Amazon Best Sellers list for CPUs. Today, several of the Ryzen CPUs still maintain several top spots in Amazon’s rankings, although Intel has reclaimed the #1 spot with their Core i7-7700K.

However, what’s interesting about the best sellers list currently is that the 16-core/32-thread AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X was able to claim the #6 spot on the list, which isn’t something you see everyday. While it’s easy for a $200 mainstream CPU to break into the top, it’s not all that common to find a prosumer $1,000 CPU [...]

Intel Core i9 Series CPU Specifications Leaked

When Intel announced the new Core-X series processors last month, the specifications chart they released didn’t include any detailed information about the Core i9 processors.

However, a new leak over at Videocardz have revealed all that information in what appears to be an official Intel slide deck still under NDA.

As always, take this information with a grain of salt as even Videocardz hasn’t been able to confirm its legitimacy. That said, this latest leak is quite interesting. According to the chart, the 18-core/36-thread Intel Core i9-7980XE features a base clock speed of just 2.6GHz, but is capable of turbo boost up to 4.4GHz which [...]

Intel Core i9-7920X Processor to be Clocked at Just 2.9GHz Base?

When Intel announced their Core X Series processors back in June of last month, no information was revealed about many of the specifications of the high end Core i9 CPUs. Aside from the core count, information about the base clock speeds, turbo clock speeds, L3 cache, etc. were still missing from the picture. What were they hiding?

Well, recently Videocardz published a screenshot of Intel’s processor pricing chart for tray CPUs as of July 14. While many details are still missing, the document reveals several key details about the Core i9-7920X, namely the base clock speed of 2.90GHz and 16.5MB of L3 cache.

This is interesting as it puts the [...]

Intel’s Upcoming Coffee Lake CPUs to Feature 6-Cores, 12-Threads to Counter AMD Ryzen

Ahhh. Competition is such a sweet, sweet thing. As AMD has finally “Ryzen” from the ashes as a competent competitor in the CPU arena, Intel is now scrambling to find a way to answer back. Intel’s first offensive was the launch of the new Core i9 series and the revamp of the HEDT platform. According to a new article from French tech publication, CanardPC, it looks like the next offensive is rebooting the mainstream platform with several new 6-core/12-thread processors for the LGA 1151 socket as well as rebooting mobile CPUs with even more cores than ever before.

The upcoming processors will be based on Intel’s 8th Generation Coffee Lake [...]

AMD 16-Core Threadripper Will Cost $999, Undercutting Intel Core i9 by $700

AMD has always been aggressive in terms of pricing. AMD Ryzen chips already undercut their Intel Core i7 counterparts by hundreds of dollars and it looks like AMD’s upcoming Threadripper CPUs are about to do the exact same to Intel’s Core i9 chips as well.

Today, AMD revealed pricing for their upcoming Threadripper 1950X and Threadripper 1920X CPUs, which significantly undercuts Intel’s recently launched Core i9 series processors.

The pricing for AMD Ryzen Threadripper is as follows:

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X (16-Core/32-Thread, 3.4GHz/4.0GHz) – $999 AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920X (12-Core/24-Thread, 3.5GHz/4.0GHz) – [...]

New AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X Benchmarks Leaked, Still Trails Intel Core i9-7900X

New benchmarks of the upcoming AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X has surfaced. The Threadripper 1950X will be AMD’s new flagship chip for consumers, and will come appropriately with 16 cores/32 threads, 40MB of onboard cache, and a whopping 64 PCIe lanes.

In a Geekbench run, the Threadripper 1950X is shown to score 4074 points in the single-core test and 26,768 in the multi-core test. This is a bit higher than the last time its performance were leaked, so it does seem like optimizations were made.

Unfortunately, the new score still doesn’t match up against Intel’s new Core i9-7900X 10-core CPU. The Intel Core i9-7900X scores 5,390 in [...]
