The original plan for December of 2013 was to update the $1,000 Gaming PC Build that really hasn’t been updated since December of 2012. Unfortunately as I started working on the build article late last year, I wasn’t too happy with a lot of components that I had to make compromises in, in order to fit the budget. At the time, I wanted to close 2013 with a build that had the highest performance for the dollar, which is why I ended up increasing the budget to $1,200.
Now after posting the build, a number of you requested that I post a $1,000 gaming PC build as well – a system that not only [...]
Well, it’s been a year since our last budget gaming build and I’ve received a ton of requests to update it, so your wish guys, is my command.
Here it is – the October 2013 Budget Gaming PC build for under $800!
Our goal this time around is identical to our goal for the original under $800 gaming build. We wanted a gaming build that would be a powerhouse of a gaming system that could play almost any modern games at medium to high settings at 1920×1200 or below. Most importantly however, we also wanted to do this at a budget. A budget of $800 or less. Could it be [...]

Last month we went ahead and put together a next generation gaming PC utilizing both Intel’s latest Haswell based processor along with Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 700 series graphics. This month, we’ll be doing another Haswell build, but this time around we’ll be focusing on content creators who need a fast system to help process photos and encode video.
Our budget this month is $1,200. This will provide us with a system that’s the best balance between performance and value. Let’s find out what we came up with!

Looking through my list of my featured computer builds, one build I felt really needed updating is the photo/video editing build as it’s one of the most requested builds along with the $1,000 gaming PC build, so for this month (well, the couple more days left for this month), that’s what we’ll do.
Now there’s a couple good photo/video editing builds I can think of, but when it comes to price to performance, I think the $1,000 – $1,400 range definitely provides the most bang for the buck, so today we’ll be doing a build that fits right into the $1,400 budget. Those [...]
For those of you who regularly follow our featured gaming builds here on Custom PC Review, you’ll notice that we didn’t really have anything for the month of September. Now, you may be wondering why is that?
Well, for those interested in the high performance segment and are willing to spend up to $2,000, we put together the “Best Gaming PC Build Under $2000” in August and for those willing to spend slightly over $1,000 at around $1,200 to $1,300, we put together the “Best Ivy Bridge Gaming PC Build Under $1,200 or $1,300” in July. Since these builds are still [...]
It seems like Aerocool is really pushing their Strike-X brand lately as they’ve recently sent out a newsletter detailing the newest addition to their Strike-X lineup, the Strike-X Air. As you may have noticed from the product photos, the case is quite reminiscent of Antec’s Skeleton case released many years back. With a modern looking open air design, this case is perfect for gamers, enthusiasts, engineers, or hardware reviewers who constantly need quick access to their hardware.
Product Features State of the art Open Frame PC case design for all PC users! Excellent cooling performance for gamers and enthusiast. Ideal case for engineers and reviewers for [...]Similar to Lian Li, SilverStone typically specializes in conservative, but functional high-end cases. However, with SilverStone’s Redline series cases, SilverStone is taking a step out of their conservative case design philosophy and giving the cases a more modern, gamer-centric appeal. With a glowing logo and HDD activity lights as well as a red 120mm front fan, the SilverStone Redline RL01 looks tough and ready for action.
You can probably guess then that today we’ll be doing a review on the SilverStone Redline RL01 mid tower case. For our review, we received the USB 3.0, windowed model of the Redline [...]
