Lately, we’ve had quite a few readers ask about 4K and VR gaming builds and honestly we’re not that surprised. With PC hardware powerful enough to support VR coming down in price, VR headsets now readily available for purchase, and more importantly a ton of awesome awesome VR games available and on the way, VR gaming has seen quite a bit of growth this year and it’s projected to grow exponentially in the next few years as well. Similarly, 4K gaming has seen some massive growth as well especially as prices on 4K monitors have gone down quite a bit in price over the past year with a number of monitors such as [...]
One of the most popular builds on our site is the gaming workstation, a hybrid build that’s both great at games yet also is able to pull double duty for workstation activities such as video editing, photoshopping, and even 3D modeling. This makes sense as computers are so versatile that it only makes sense to have a single PC that’s capable of not only playing games, but for doing work as well.
Our budget this month is $1,500 which means we’ll have a relatively high end build although it’s not quite as high end as your maxed out $2,500 build. That said, this build should easily play all your games at the [...]
With summer ending quickly, fall just around the corner and along with it the biggest game releases of the year, gamers are looking to upgrade or build an entirely new Gaming PC that can easily run their games without a hiccup. This month, we’ve put together a Mid-Range Gaming PC for $1,200 which will include everything you need to play the latest and greatest games coming out this season.
Let’s take a look at how we did!
Best Gaming PC Build Component Summary – Budget: $1,200 CPU Intel Core i5-6600K Motherboard MSI Z170 SLI-PLUS Memory Patriot [...]
With a number of AAA games being released for the holiday season as well as a number of new hardware announcements for the holiday season, we thought we’d do a new gaming PC build article, this time designed for the mid-range crowd.
With a budget of $1,500, our goal this time was to create a gaming build which would allow gamers to play the latest games at 1080p, 1440p or 1600p at the highest possible settings (or pretty close to it). Additionally, we also designed this system to be as “futureproof” as possible, utilizing all the latest technologies including Intel’s latest Skylake architecture, DDR4 memory, USB 3.1 [...]
Now that EA DICE’s long-awaited shooter Star Wars Battlefront has finally arrived on PC, no doubt many of you are probably itching to build a new rig or upgrade your current one to meet the game’s fairly hefty requirements. While it’s easy to build a system that matches the game’s minimum system requirements or blow enormous amounts of money on a top of the line gaming machine, we decided to put together a system for those on a reasonable budget yet are still looking for that Premium Star Wars Battlefront experience.
That being said, lets set some expectations before we begin. This won’t be a PC enthusiast’s gaming [...]
Ever since we started the site several years ago, gaming computer builds have always ranked as one of the most popular article requests we get. While we originally wanted build articles to be a monthly feature on the website, it hasn’t always worked out that way due to more pressing articles taking up most of our time, but we’re definitely aiming to post build articles much more often for the next year so stay tuned.
With that said, let’s talk about the build. As usual, our $1,000 gaming build has always been one that will allow gamers to play the latest games at [...]
It’s been quite a while since our last gaming PC build here at Custom PC Review, but computer hardware hasn’t really changed all that much in the past couple months with most of the industry waiting on the holiday season to make their big releases. Our previous $1,500 gaming PC build from back in 2013 was already based off Intel’s latest Haswell processor architecture and Intel isn’t expected to be releasing a successor to the aging processor until this holiday season, while AMD and Nvidia aren’t expected to release new graphics cards until the end of the year at the [...]
The original plan for December of 2013 was to update the $1,000 Gaming PC Build that really hasn’t been updated since December of 2012. Unfortunately as I started working on the build article late last year, I wasn’t too happy with a lot of components that I had to make compromises in, in order to fit the budget. At the time, I wanted to close 2013 with a build that had the highest performance for the dollar, which is why I ended up increasing the budget to $1,200.
Now after posting the build, a number of you requested that I post a $1,000 gaming PC build as well – a system that not only [...]
Wow. Until a lot of you guys messaged me over the past couple weeks, I had no idea that the last time we did a $1,00 gaming PC build guide, it was all the way back in December of last year. Guess it was about time to update that old thing!
So for our gaming PC build this month, I started off trying to put together a gaming PC build at the $1,000 range. While I had no trouble doing that, in order to fit the $1,000 budget, I ended up having to make a lot of compromises that I wasn’t willing to make on this build. Now before starting the build, I wanted to put together a solid mainstream system that had all the [...]
Over the past couple years, the very high end gaming PC segment has really been neglected. Computer hardware had so far surpassed what games required that most users with modern sub-$1,000 gaming systems would easily be able to run the latest games at maximum resolutions. Now a huge part of this has to do with last generation gaming consoles as most games are developed on them yet they contained hardware that was low/mid-range to begin with even when they were introduced all the way back in 2005 (Xbox 360) and 2006 (PS3). With the introduction of new gaming consoles with some modern hardware in [...]
