Coinciding with Gamescom 2017, Linksys recently launched a new flagship consumer gaming router, the Linksys WRT32X.
The Linksys WRT32X is a 802.11ac router based on the WRT3200 platform, but what’s special about it is that it utilizes the Killer Networking Prioritization Engine to ensure that gaming traffic get top priority and are transferred as quickly as possible. According to Linksys, it could potentially shave off 77% in-game latency and the prioritization engine will also intelligently manage traffic when there’s no gaming activity to ensure smooth web browsing experience for all connected devices.
Besides Killer QoS, [...]
Last year, Netgear introduced the Orbi, which is one of the best mesh Wi-Fi networking systems on the market. Featuring a 4×4 MU-MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi dedicated backhaul, it was the fastest home mesh Wi-Fi system we’ve tested to date, but due to its high cost, it wasn’t accessible to those who weren’t interested in spending $400 on a Wi-Fi system.
In order to bring the Orbi to a wider audience, Netgear is expanding the Orbi lineup with two new Orbi mesh Wi-Fi kits, the RBK30 and RBK40 priced at $299.99 and $349.99 respectively.
In order to lower the pricepoint for the RBK30 and RBK 40, both are AC2200 systems featuring a [...]
IoT and machine learning are two of the fastest growing segments in the computing world and to help satiate the demand for ever more powerful hardware, more power efficient hardware, Nvidia announced the Jetson TX2 platform designed specifically for these applications.

Several weeks ago, we had the opportunity to review the Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC PRO which we found to be an excellent Wi-Fi access point solution for anyone looking for an easy way to significantly improve their Wi-Fi coverage, performance, and reliability in the home, office, or commercial deployment.
Of course, the UniFi AP AC PRO isn’t the fastest access point Ubiquiti makes and for those who want the absolute maximum performance, Ubiquiti also offers the UniFi AP AC HD, Ubiquiti’s flagship UniFi access point sporting an even faster, newer, beefier wireless chipset paired with an even more powerful antenna array.
Given that [...]
The new Apple MacBook Pro (Touchbar, 2016) is quite the mixed bag. On one hand the thinner and lighter design, the beautiful Retina display, and the cool new TouchBar makes it one of the best MacBook Pros ever, but on the other hand, lackluster hardware, USB-C exclusivity, and the extremely high pricetag makes it a lot less appealing than its predecessor.
While internal components such as the CPU, graphics, battery size, etc. may be a bit uninspired, one component that Apple hasn’t skimped on for this generation is the internal Wi-Fi. Rather than stick with the usual 802.11AC with a 2×2 MIMO antenna setup typically [...]
One of the rising stars in the enterprise networking world is Ubiquiti Networks, a company which has become very well known for producing competitive enterprise grade networking equipment for less than half the cost when compared to similar products from more well known brands such as Cisco, Aruba, HP, Aerohive, Xirrus, etc.
Among their most popular products is the Ubiquiti UniFi APs (Access Points), which has become very popular for not only businesses, but also home users who have become tired of overpaying for top end consumer Wi-Fi routers that seem to never work.
One of the most popular access points is the Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC PRO [...]
Thought your brand spankin’ new 802.11ac wave 2 router was going to last 2017 without going obsolete? Guess again.
In a recent announcement, Qualcomm unveiled two new chips, the IPQ8074 SoC and QCA6290, becoming the first chipmaker to unveil an end to end solution for 802.11ax Wi-Fi, the next Wi-Fi standard beyond 802.11ac wave 2. Whereas previous versions of Wi-Fi prior to 802.11ac wave 2 have always focused on improving speed, 802.11ax Wi-Fi continues the trend started by 802.11ac wave 2 by focusing more on capacity and coverage rather than just pure single client performance. In order to achieve this, 802.11ax utilizes technologies such as 8×8 [...]
Synology is a company well known for their excellent, easy to use NAS systems, and several years ago they decided to enter the router market with the Synology Router RT1900ac which combined their expertise in producing quality, intuitive, easy to use operating systems with a high performance router solution. While we didn’t get a chance to review the RT1900ac at the time, it was very well received by customers and press, which is why when Synology announced the Router RT2600ac, we absolutely had to check it out.Specifications Manufacturer Synology Model RT2600ac Processor Qualcomm IPQ 8065 Dual Core 1.7GHz Memory 512MB [...]
At CES 2017 we had the chance to stop by EVGA, which had a huge lineup of new products including the all-new iCX cooled GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards, Intel Z270 motherboards, a brand new lineup of budget-minded B3 power supplies, and the finished version of the quick disconnect CLC coolers we saw back at Computex last year.
EVGA Shows off all-new iCX Cooled GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 FTW2 and SC2
Starting off our tour we had the chance to take a look EVGA’s brand new “iCX” cooled graphics cards which are set to replace the ACX 3.0 cooled cards which make up the majority of their current GeForce 10-series lineup. The new [...]
With the success of Synology’s first entry into the router market, the Synology RT1900ac, Synology wasted no time developing an even faster, more powerful successor, the Synology RT2600AC.
First announced at Computex earlier this year, the Synology RT2600AC features Synology’s in-house Router Manager OS, a dual core 1.7GHz processor and the latest 802.11ac Wave 2 certified radios with MU-MIMO support. This combined with the 4×4 MIMO antenna configuration would give the router a theoretical maximum bandwidth of up to 2.6Gbps.
At the time, a launch date was still unavailable however, according to a recent announcement, Synology will [...]
