HP has released the world’s first 2-in-1 convertible mobile workstation. The HP ZBook X2 aims to bring high performance into a versatile form factor that’s also familiar to professionals already proficient to drawing tablets.

The ZBook X2’s design borrows much from today’s drawing tablets. The ZBook X2 has a column of function buttons on either side of the display, much like many high-end drawing tabs do. An adjustable kickstand at the rear lets the user’s hands rest in a comfortable position.

Autonomous, the makers behind the sitting/standing Smart Desk, has recently launched the third iteration of their Smart Desk series, the Autonomous Smart Desk 3. Autonomous claims that the Smart Desk 3 is the world’s first AI powered workstation and you’ll soon see why.

With the original Smart Desk and the Smart Desk 2, Autonomous focused on perfecting their Smart Desk’s main function which was to simply move up and down for both sitting and standing use. With the Smart Desk 3, Autonomous has now also integrated a tablet directly into the desk itself.

Raja Koduri, head of AMD’s Radeon Technology Group (RTG), has recently revealed that he will be going on a sabbatical starting September 25 until December.

Microsoft has recently slotted yet another addition to its already populated Windows lineup. The Windows 10 Pro Workstation edition brings some trickled down features from the enterprise edition, namely resilient file system support, persistent memory, faster file sharing, and support for server grade hardware.

Resilient file system (ReFS) uses a host of techniques to make data more fault tolerant. It can automatically perform auto correction using mirrored storage space and integrity streams. It’s also optimized for handling large data volumes.

At SIGGRAPH 2017, PNY announced that they’ll soon be jumping into the mobile workstation market with their latest PNY Prevail Pro P3000 and Prevail Pro P4000 mobile workstations.

The new mobile workstations which are just 0.78-inches thin and weigh in at just 4.8Lbs, feature up to a 15.6-inch 4K UHD(3840×2160) display, an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, up to 32GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM, and Nvidia’s Quadro Mobile P3000 for the Prevail Pro P3000 and the Quadro Mobile P4000 (Max-Q) for the Prevail Pro P4000. After recently releasing the HP Omen X Compact Desktop designed for VR gamers, HP is back at it again with another VR backpack, this time at SIGGRAPH 2017 to release the professional oriented HP Z VR for VR developers and creative professionals.

Dell announced a massive refresh of its Precision line of workstations at SIGGRAPH 2017, marking the first refresh of the Precision lineup in five years.

Since it’s the 20 year anniversary for Dell’s workstation business, it’s only fitting to talk about Dell’s first workstation and to see how far they’ve come in the 20 years. At a special event at SIGGRAPH 2017, Dell revealed the Precision 5520 mobile workstation, commemorating 20 years of Dell Precision workstations.

Crafted in a beautiful brushed aluminum finish, the Dell Precision 5520 mobile workstation is according to Dell the thinnest and lightest 15-inch mobile workstation on the market. The laptop features a thickness of just 0.66-inches at its thickest point and a weight of just under 4lbs for the fully loaded unit.

At SIGGRAPH 2017, Nvidia announced that it will be bringing its powerful Titan Xp and Quadro graphics cards into an eGPU solution for gamers, creative professionals and AI researchers.

External graphics docks are becoming increasingly popular due to their convenience and massive graphics performance they bring to laptops and other mobile devices that otherwise would not have the capability.
