Nvidia Unveils FCAT VR to Improve VR Experiences

VR Rendering Pipeline

Nvidia is showing off some cool new things at GDC this year, recently launching the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and also taking the wraps off their new FCAT VR benchmarking tool.

Nvidia’s new FCAT VR benchmarking tool utilizes the same FCAT (Frame Capture Analysis Tool) benchmarking technology they’ve developed previously, now adapted to VR. As a result, the FCAT VR tool is able to benchmark some key metrics in VR systems such as frame time, dropped frames, warp misses, and synthesized frames to provide an even more accurate idea of how well a system will do with VR.

FCAT VR [...]

Oculus Rift + Touch Gets Massive Pricecut, Bundle Now Priced at $598

With development of games, productivity, shopping, social media, and other applications for VR growing by the day, there is no doubt that VR is on track to becoming the next big thing in tech. However, the biggest barrier to the “real VR”, aka VR on PC, is the pricetag of entry. In addition to the hefty price of a brand new VR headset from Oculus or HTC, you also need a PC that can handle VR which unfortunately is a huge turn-off for many looking to get into VR for the first time.

However, in a new announcement at GDC, Oculus looks to change at least the price of entry for their lineup of VR headsets and accessories as they’ve recently announced that [...]

AMD Ryzen CPU Confirmed for March, Vega and Naples in 2Q, 7nm, Zen 2 and Zen 3 on the Way

AMD’s latest earnings call was a mixed bag as revenues declined over 3Q2016 and are expected to continue to decline heading into 1Q2017. However, despite the quarterly setbacks, AMD had a positive 2016 overall with increased revenues and lower debt over the previous year.

What’s even more exciting for AMD however, is the amount of high profile product launches coming this year. During AMD’s earnings call, AMD CEO, Dr. Lisa Su confirmed that Ryzen will launch with “…widespread system and channel availability expected on day one” in early March.
