MSI Releases Small Form Factor Vortex G25 Gaming Desktop

MSI recently announced the Vortex G25, a small yet powerful gaming PC.

The MSI Vortex G25 is absolutely tiny. It’s slim build is almost reminiscent of a blade server. When stood up vertically, it takes up less space than a gaming console. It’s so compact, in fact, that it can be mounted on a VESA monitor mount. At just 5.51lbs, it won’t rip your monitor apart, either.

Xbox One X Scorpio Edition Pre-Orders Sold Out in Less Than a Day

If you were planning on scoring one of the special edition Xbox One X Scorpio Edition gaming consoles, you may be out of luck.

According to a recent Gamescom 2017 interview by the YouTube channel Rocket Beans, it appears that although the new console was expected to sell well, even Microsoft didn’t expect it to sell this well. During the interview, Microsoft Head of Xbox Marketing Aaron Greenberg revealed that despite the company preparing enough inventory to “last about a week”, the new special edition of the gaming console actually sold out in less than a day with Amazon’s inventory selling out in just twenty five minutes.

For those [...]

Microsoft’s Project Scorpio Detailed: Specs Reveal Major Upgrade Over Xbox One

Microsoft’s next update to the Xbox gaming console codenamed Project Scorpio was announced at Microsoft’s E3 briefing last year however, little information about the console has been revealed thus far. Besides having announced that it will host a GPU capable of up to 6 TFlops of compute performance and designed for 4K, Microsoft has been keeping things pretty tightly under wraps.

While the launch of the console is still quite a ways away, just like candy there will always be ones who gets to taste it early and YouTube channel Digital Foundry was recently invited by Microsoft to get an exclusive first look at the Scorpio’s guts and what they found is [...]

Sony OtherOS Lawsuit Claim Now Available, $55 Settlement for PS3 Owners Who Used OtherOS Functionality

When Sony originally launched their first iteration of the PlayStation 3 back in 2006, one of the features of the gaming console was the ability to install a Linux based operating system by using the built-in “Other OS” feature. A number of PS3 owners purchased the console with ambitions to utilize the PS3 as a Linux PC, but this feature was unfortunately removed in 2010 via software update 3.21.

As many gamers claimed that they purchased the PS4 for the Other OS functionality, this subsequently resulted in a 6 year class action lawsuit with Sony opting to settle the suit back in June of this year.

According to the terms of the settlement, customers [...]

Still on the fence whether to pick up a Xbox One S or not? We understand your pain and I think Microsoft does too.

To ease that pain a bit, Microsoft recently announced a new Xbox One S bundle promotion where they’re giving out a free game in addition to any Xbox One S bundle purchase. The free game will include a choice of either NBA 2K17, FIFA 17, Destiny: Rise of Iron, or Forza Horizon 3.

This means if you opt for say the Xbox One S Minecraft bundle, you could get the Xbox One S, Minecraft and NBA 2K 17 for $299. Minecraft doesn’t float your boat? Well, you could also opt for the Xbox One S Halo Collection bundle and get Halo along with Destiny: [...]

Review: Razer Leviathan 5.1 Channel Surround Sound Bar

Razer’s First Ever Gaming Sound Bar

Over the past couple years, I’d have to say that I’ve become pretty impressed with Razer. Despite being a relatively small, privately owned gaming peripherals company, they’ve successfully managed to enter and reinvigorate a number of product markets that have stagnated for a long time. A perfect example of this is the gaming notebook market where Razer not only helped renew and reinvigorate the market, but also spurred development in the industry as a whole.

One market Razer abandoned several years ago is the premium PC gaming speaker market and it looks like they’re ready to finally jump back in. Back in [...]

CES 2015: Syber Vapor SLIM Prototype, Vapor Stream Prototype

Several weeks ago, we had the opportunity to review the Syber Vapor Xtreme, a new PC gaming console from CyberPowerPC’s newest sub-brand, Syber. Since we were fairly impressed with what Syber had done with their first PC gaming console, we stopped by their suite at CES 2015 to take a look at what’s coming next.

While Syber didn’t have too much to show us just yet, they did have a couple products under development that looked quite promising.

First up is the Syber Vapor SLIM, which is still very much a prototype at this time. As you’d expect from the name, the Syber Vapor SLIM carries most of the features of the original Syber [...]

Review: Syber Vapor Xtreme Gaming PC Console

[section label=1. Introduction] The Rise of the PC Gaming Console

Way back at CES 2014, Valve made a huge splash at the show announcing their intent to popularize PC gaming in the living room. In order to do this, Valve was building a custom Steam OS which would either be installed by an end user to their own gaming PC, or be bundled with Steam Machines – Valve approved gaming PCs manufactured by their PC OEM partners.

While Valve and their PC OEM partners created a lot of hype during the show, the Steam Machine concept has pretty much fizzled out in the past year as Steam have made no big announcements regarding the status of their Steam OS or Steam Machines. With PC [...]

CES 2013: Nvidia Tegra 4, Project SHIELD Gaming Console Hands On, First Impressions

Among the most popular introductions at this year’s CES was the Nvidia Project Shield, which is Nvidia’s newest Tegra 4 powered gaming console. This introduction is exciting in a number of ways. The first is that Nvidia is entering the gaming console market. Nvidia has been traditionally known for producing top tier graphics cards and mobile processors, so the move into mobile gaming seems like a logical step for the company. The second exciting thing about Project Shield is that it includes Nvidia’s newest Tegra 4 ARM processor.

Let’s talk a little about both of these exciting new introductions.
