For the most part when gaming there are just two senses that matter – sight and sound. This is why having a top quality headset is one of the most important elements to winning on the virtual battlefield. Traditionally, gaming headsets have always been manufactured by gaming peripherals companies that make headsets that are either average or below average quality, but with the dearth of options from premium audiomakers, until recently there really wasn’t much of a choice.
Several years back, renowned German audio products maker Sennheiser jumped into the gaming headset market and saw such success that they now have several models of gaming [...]
We have a treat for all the audiophiles out there with a new pair of Beyerdynamic audiophile headphones for review. For those who aren’t familiar with high end audio brands, Beyerdynamic is a German audio brand with almost 100 years of history crafting some of the highest end professional and enthusiast grade audio equipment.
Today we’ll be reviewing the new Beyerdynamic Amrion Home. The Beyerdynamic Amiron Home is the successor to the popular Beyerdynamic T90 and is geared toward a very niche group of enthusiast audiophiles with its $600 price point. As implied by its name, Beyerdynamic is making it clear that the Amiron Home is not [...]
When it comes to gaming peripherals, everyone knows that Razer makes some of the best and given that most gaming peripherals can be used in everyday life, the company naturally branched out to create gamer inspired lifestyle gear. One such line of products is the Razer Hammerhead line of in-ear headphones which we were fairly impressed with when we reviewed it way back in 2013.
Naturally, given the success of the Hammerhead series, Razer released a new Bluetooth version, the Hammerhead BT which we’ll be reviewing today.Razer Hammerhead BT Specifications Manufacturer Razer Model Hammerhead BT Type In-Ear Interface Bluetooth 4.1 + [...]
At E3 2017, Creative launched a new gamer oriented internal soundcard, the Sound Blaster X AE-5.
As with all of Creative’s new sound products, at the heart of the Sound Blaster X AE-5 is Creative’s quad-core Sound Core 3D audio DSP. The Sound Core 3D chip is then paired with a Sabre 32 Ultra DAC making it capable of delivering up to 32-bit, 384kHz playback with a 122dB DNR (Dynamic Range). The Creative Sound BlasterX AE-5 is also the first soundcard to feature dedicated amplifiers for each headphone audio channel. This allows the Sound BlasterX AE-5 to support even ultra high end audiophile headphones with an impedance of 600Ω.
To ensure top [...]

At CES 2015, Creative displayed tons of new products, but there was no doubt that the Sound Blaster X7 was the star of the show.
At about the size of a Bluetooth speaker, the Sound Blaster X7 is unlike anything Creative has ever produced. Inside its stylish black casing, the Sound Blaster X7 is not only a high-end external DAC, it’s also a serious amplifier capable of delivering up to 76w of power (or 100w with the optional 24V, 6A power adapter).
In order to achieve this, the Sound Blaster X7 features Creative’s proprietary SB-Axx1 multi-core DSP that we’ve seen in several generations of Sound Blaster products along with a Burr-Brown [...]
Earlier this year at CES 2014, SteelSeries invited us to their suite to check out a couple brand new products they were coming out with. While we were browsing their suite, SteelSeries showed us the new SteelSeries Sensei Wireless Gaming Mouse along with the SteelSeries Stratus Wireless Gaming Controller. While those were interesting products, what really caught our eye was a product they had introduced several months earlier – the SteelSeries Siberia Elite Gaming Headset, which was prominently displayed on one of the display shelves.
Most of you who follow the PC gaming scene in the past decade have probably seen the [...]
Wireless headsets are awesome. Not only do they make you look like a badass when gaming all by yourself, no cord also means you can do stuff like grab a soda from your kitchen without putting your music on hold. While we’ve seen a number of companies release some impressive wireless gaming headsets lately, SteelSeries has been rather inactive in updating their wireless headsets until now.
Today we’ll be reviewing SteelSeries latest flagship wireless gaming headset, the SteelSeries H Wireless. As its name implies, the SteelSeries H Wireless is a premium gaming headset is based off SteelSeries’ H series gaming headset [...]
For those who’ve been closely following the Z97 launch these past couple weeks, you’ll know that it hasn’t been anywhere near the smoothest chipset launch in Intel history. Despite Intel’s NDA set for May 11, we’ve literally known practically everything about Z97 for months and almost every motherboard maker has been either leaking their own products or breaking some sort of NDA to get their products some early media coverage.
With Intel’s NDA now expired and Z97 chipset based motherboards now rolling out at major retailers (with Intel’s new Haswell Refresh CPUs following suit), today [...]
Last year when we reviewed the Creative Sound Blaster AXX SBX 10 and SBX 20 it was probably one of the coolest products we’ve ever come across. Whereas generally you’d get a product that’s a Bluetooth speaker, or sometimes you’d get a product that’s an external sound card, or sometimes you’d get a product that’s a desktop microphone – with the Sound Blaster AXX, you get it all in single product. While we were impressed with what Creative had done with the first generation Sound Blaster AXX, once we got some hands on time with it, we noticed that there were a couple features that we [...]
