Samsung Launches Galaxy Note 8 at Unpacked Event

Samsung recently launched their highly anticipated smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, at their Unpacked event recently held in New York City.

AMD Launches EPYC 7000 Series Processors: Up to 32-Cores/64-Threads, 8-Channel DDR4, 128 PCIe Gen 3 Lanes

Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 660 and 630 SoCs

Qualcomm’s latest midrange SoCs are finally here! The Snapdragon 660 and 630 SoCs are slated to replace the highly successful Snapdragon 653 and the Snapdragon 625 SoCs.

The Qualcomm 660 switches from the big.LITTLE architecture to a unified octa-core architecture. The new processor replaces the ARM Cortex A72 and A53 CPUs in favor of eight Kryo 260 CPUs. The GPU has also been updated to the Adreno 512. Qualcomm states that users would see a 20% improvement in compute performance and 30% improvement in graphics over its predecessor.

iPhone 8 on Schedule for September-October Launch

Apple’s iPhone 8 is on track to launch in September and go on sale in October, according to a recent report by Economic Daily News.

This new statement contradicts previous beliefs that the iPhone 8 will be delayed due to poor yields of the OLED displays. Analysts predicted that the iPhone production will be severely hampered by supply after the initial launch.

Newly improved production yield rates have seemingly resolved this issue. OnePlus 5 Leaked Ahead of Schedule at Online Retailer

The successor to the legendary OnePlus 3T may have been inadvertently leaked on Oppomart, a popular online Chinese marketplace.

According to the leaked product page, the list image is the same as leaked images we’ve seen previously. The phone is pictured to feature a matte black finish and a dual camera system. The fingerprint reader is expected to be placed at the front.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Powered Windows 10 Mobile PCs Coming 4Q2017

Back in December 2016, Qualcomm and Microsoft had demonstrated Windows 10 running on a mobile device equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. In the demo, Windows 10 was shown running on a smartphone via emulation. The demo also showcased the scaling functionality of Windows Universal Apps.

At the time, no additional information was provided as to when a Snapdragon SoC based Windows 10 device would ship.

However, at their recent earnings call, Qualcomm revealed plans to “disrupt” existing suppliers of PC by launching a Snapdragon 835 powered Windows 10 device by the end of this year.

Samsung Announces 10nm FinFET Production Ramp On Track

In a recent announcement, Samsung reports that 10nm FinFET yields are high and they’re on track for a production ramp up.

Samsung initially began production using its 10nm FinFET process with their 10nm FinFET LPE (Low Power Early) process back in October 2016. The process showed a 30% increase in area efficiency with 27% higher performance or up to 40% lower power consumption. Since its initial production, Samsung claims that more than 70,000 wafers have been shipped. AMD Prepares 32-Core Naples CPU to Battle Against Intel Xeon, Launch Expected in 2Q2017

Not even a month has passed since AMD launched their Zen based Ryzen desktop CPUs and AMD is already preparing their assault against Intel’s Xeon server dominance with their upcoming Zen based Naples CPUs.

The new server CPUs, which AMD refers to as SoCs will feature 32-cores/64-threads, eight memory channels, up to 2TB of DDR4 memory, and 64 PCIe 3.0 lanes. This is spec for spec far more powerful than its chief competition, the Intel Xeon E5-2599A v4 processor which features a paltry 22 cores, four memory channels, up to 1.54TB of DDR4, and 40 PCIe 3.0 lanes.
