Dell Releases New XPS 13 (9370) Laptops With Quad Core Processors

Dell’s XPS 13 ultrabook just received a significant performance upgrade and enhanced asthetics.

The new XPS 13 now uses Intel’s 8th gen Quad-core i5-8250 and i7-8550 CPUs. The CPUs have a baseline TDP of 15W, but can be configured for to up to 25W. Dell states that the new cooling solution in the new XPS 13 can handle up to 27W, so it’s likely that the CPUs had their TDPs increased accordingly. Despite the robust cooling, the weight of the is kept at  just 2.67 lbs.

Synology Announces DiskStation DS418Play 4-Bay NAS

Following Synology’s massive launch of no less than five NAS systems, Synology is announcing yet another in preparation for the holiday season.

The new NAS is a 4-bay NAS Synology calls the DiskStation DS418Play and it’s a slightly upgraded variation of the DS418 which was recently released. Whereas the Synology DiskStation DS418 is equipped with a Realtek RTD1296 quad core processor along with 2GB of DDR4 RAM, the DS418Play features an Intel Celeron J3355 dual core processor paired with 2GB of DDR3 RAM. Crucial has recently announced the BX300 SSD, the latest update to the BX family of value oriented SSDs.

Available in capacities of 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB, the Crucial BX300 now packs the latest Micron 3D MLC NAND. Paired with the Silicon Motion SM2258 controller, the Crucial BX300 sports performance up to 555/530 MB/s sequential reads/writes and up to 95K/90K 4K random reads/writes for the top capacity. Write endurance is rated between 55 to 160TBW depending on capacity.
