After a succession of failures, Joe Belfiore, VP of Operating Systems at Microsoft, confirmed via Twitter that Microsoft will not be creating another Windows phone.
In another Tweet, Belfiore explained that Windows Phone’s phone’s fundamental issue was one it had since day one: the lack of apps. Users won’t use a phone with no apps, and companies won’t develop apps for a platform with no users. This vicious cycle is what ultimately drove the nail in the coffin. Joe also promised that Windows 10 mobile will continue to receive security updates, but active development in both hardware and software have ceased.
Apple and Nokia have reportedly settled a patent dispute where Nokia claims that Apple had utilized 32 of Nokia patents without paying licensing fees. As a part of the settlement, Apple has agreed to pay Nokia an upfront fee as well as any long-term patent licensing fees.
Following the patent dispute, both Apple and Nokia have moved beyond the lawsuits and are now pursuing a more synergistic relationship. As a part of their re-kindled friendship, Nokia’s Withing fitness products are now back in Apple’s retail and online stores with the two companies also hinting at a possible collaboration in digital health technology.

Much of the growth can be attributed to the booming smartphone market. The adoption rate for Android smartphones is growing at a rapid rate whereas Windows Mobile remains non-existent. Back in 2015, Microsoft wrote off Nokia and fired 7,800 employees after seeing no growth in its mobile business. At the time of the write-off, Microsoft accounted for less than 1% of the total smartphone [...]

Typically when companies are planning new products, one of the first things they’d do is register a ton of domain names – after all, nothing can suck more than when the perfect domain name is taken and the owner who’s doing nothing with it wants $100,000 for it.
So, when an internet brand protection company like Markmonitor purchases a slew of domain names that hints at a League of Legends expansion or at least something League of Legends related, you’d want to pay attention. Especially since Markmonitor is the primary domain manager for Riot Games, along with a lot of other popular and well known companies such as [...]
