Mozilla has just unleashed a massive update to its Firefox browser making it so fast that they’re calling it Firefox Quantum.
Firefox Quantum started as a perpetual project in October 2016 with the goal of developing a better web engine for today’s web content. The web is no longer a collection of static pages, and is now driven by many types of webapps. To run these apps optimally, Quantum takes advantage of the multi-thread, multi-core processors found in most of today’s machines. Instead of letting one core handling the command stream for the entire browser, the engine will intelligently distribute the workload across multiple threads and the [...]
Like Google Chrome, if you just go directly to the Mozilla Firefox website, you’re directed to download the Firefox Stub Installer, which is essentially a file that detects your operating system then downloads the most appropriate version of Firefox from the web then installs it. While this works fine if you’re planning to just use Firefox on one computer that has internet access, if you’re trying to deploy Firefox on multiple machines that may or may not have internet access, using a stub installer is a massive waste of time and bandwidth.
Like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox is available as standalone offline installers, but finding them is a [...]
For those who are particularly security conscious, any sort of potential vulnerability is worrisome. Within browsers, a functionality called WebGL allows web developers to run code directly on the video card which of course isn’t exactly something you’d want to let web applications do. While web browsers attempt to protect against major security vulnerabilities by sandboxing the webapps, having the functionality to begin with could become a vulnerability.
While WebGL vulnerabilities are still a debated topic among security researchers, the easy way to prevent any issues is just to disable it. Here’s how.
Disable WebGL in Chrome
For those who use the internet in any way, having a VPN service is essential. VPN services not only help protect your security online, but can also help you get around government censorship, geo-restricted content filters, and ISP traffic shaping.
As a part of a new series of VPN reviews, today we’ll be reviewing VPN Unlimited by KeepSolid. KeepSolid VPN Unlimited is a New York based VPN service with development teams in Ukraine founded back in 2013. The service is well reviewed, offers lots of servers around the globe, and is reasonably priced, but does it live up to its expectations? Let’s find out!
The Basics VPN [...]
The browser cache is designed to help you speed up webpage loading by storing locally saved copies of the webpages you recently visited in a cache. While this is helpful if you’re visiting websites that don’t change very often, it may sometimes cause issues with websites that are constantly being updated by serving you a previously cached copy of the page. In this case, the solution is simply to just clear your cache.
Here’s how the clear the browser cache in FireFox.

Chances are if you’ve used a modern internet browser in the past few years, you probably know that each browser has some sort of private mode. In Google Chrome, it’s called Incognito, in Microsoft Edge, it’s called InPrivate, and in Mozilla FireFox, it’s called Private Browsing.
While many have used this type of private browsing functionality, one of the biggest questions that I get is, “Is private browsing actually private?” and the simple answer to this is no.
In fact, each of the browsers specifically warn you before surfing the internet in their respective private browsing modes that while private browsing will keep [...]
A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is one of the best ways to keep information about your internet usage private from hackers, your ISP, and the government. However, if it’s not setup properly or if the VPN service only secures your connection in some ways and not others, then you still leave yourself vulnerable to monitoring and security issues.
Today we’ll be discussing how to check if your VPN actually secure and how to check for any IP Leaks.
What is an IP Leak?
Before we begin, the most important thing is to understand what an IP Leak is. An IP Leak is broad term that covers any instance where your real IP is [...]
Firefox version 54 finally adds multi-process support, bringing it in line with the modern browser process design.
Before version 54, Firefox had all of its tabs and extensions running on one process. When one tab stops working in the process tree, the problem could manifest other tabs or cause the whole session to shut down. In contrast, browsers like Google Chrome separates each tab into its own process which makes Chrome blazing fast and more stable, but it comes at the price of using more memory and resources than other browsers.
Recognizing the need for multi-process, but also recognizing the drawbacks of allowing unlimited processes to be created, [...]
A vulnerability has been exposed in Chrome, Firefox, and Opera browsers. In certain scenarios, the affected browsers may incorrectly render Unicode into ASCII characters via Punycode, tricking visitors into believing that it’s the official site.
The tip came from Xudong Zhen, who demonstrated the vulnerability by constructing a site for the domain “https://www.xn--80ak6aa92e.com/“. When entered into the URL bar, a browser could incorrectly translate it to Apple.com. Pair it with SSL and a well-copied template of the original, it can even fool seasoned web users.
The danger of this vulnerability is evident to see. If the domain was [...]
With the Windows 10 Creator Update finally here, we thought it would be helpful to sum up some of the coolest features in this massive patch.
As its name suggests, Windows 10 Creator Update aims to boost Windows 10’s ability to make imagination come to life. As multimedia and entertainment continues to evolve, so have different forms of creativity. With the expansion of gaming, VR, and 3D, creative mediums are more diverse than ever.
Of course, along with many of the new features [...]
