Information about Nvidia’s upcoming GeForce GTX 1070 Ti has been rumored extensively over the past month, but nothing has been confirmed until now. Some keen observers recently spotted a line in the patch notes for the latest beta of MSI’s Afterburner software which reveals that the GTX 1070 Ti does exist and is likely coming sooner rather than later.
According to the patch notes for MSI Afterburner Beta Version 4.4.0:
“Added core voltage control for reference design NVIDIA GeForce GT 1070 Ti series graphics cards”
*Note there does appear to be a typo in the changelog as it shows GT 1070 Ti rather than GTX 1070 Ti.

In November of last year, AMD finally released the long-awaited Radeon R9 380X, which is the first consumer graphics card the company has released to feature a full-fledged Antigua (Tonga) XT graphics core. Late last year, AMD introduced the Hawaii based Radeon R9 290/290X along with the Bonaire based Radeon R7 260/260X which utilized AMD’s updated GCN (Graphics Core Next) architecture. Recently, we came away very impressed with the MSI GeForce GTX 750 Gaming GPU, which was our first opportunity to check out a graphics card based off of Nvidia’s new Maxwell based GeForce GTX 750 series GPU. Four years ago Nvidia launched the 40nm based Fermi GPU, two years ago Nvidia launched the 28nm based Kepler GPU, and now, two years after Kepler’s launch, it’s now time for Nvidia to launch their latest and greatest GPU – Maxwell.

Late last year along with the unveil of AMD’s flagship Radeon R9 290X graphics card, AMD also unveiled a lower cost offering, the Radeon R9 290, which promised only slightly lower performance at a significantly lower price.

If you haven’t heard already, over the past couple weeks AMD has been on a graphics card launch frenzy launching a number of new graphics cards including the Radeon R9 270X, R9 280X, R9 290X and the R9 290. While impressive, with the exception of the R9 290X and the R9 290, most of the R9 200 lineup that’s been launched already is still based off AMD’s last generation GPU technology with the R9 280 series based off the Tahiti GPU found in the Radeon HD 7900 series and the R9 270 series based off the Pitcairn GPU found on the Radeon HD 7800 series.
