For those who aren’t familiar with the name Phanteks, you should be. Prior to the middle of last year, Phanteks wasn’t even a name in the CPU cooler industry – in fact, they didn’t really even exist. However, as their first product, Phanteks introduced the PH-TC14PE, which is the best air cooler we’ve tested to date. Coming from a completely unknown company as the time, I was extremely impressed.
Ever since I reviewed what I now call the “big daddy cooler”, the Phanteks PH-TC14PE, I’ve been looking forward to the release of Phanteks’ next cooler, so it’s [...]
It’s been a long wait here at Custom PC Review, but we finally have Intel’s top of the line LGA 2011 processor, the Intel Core i7 3960X Extreme Edition along with ASRock’s newest X79 board.
So, for those of you who haven’t been keeping up with Intel’s enthusiast class gear, the last time Intel announced a high end platform was way back in November 2008 when the socket LGA 1366 along with the Intel X58 chipset was born. At the time, it was the high end enthusiast class product providing support for triple channel DDR3 memory and up to 40 PCIe lanes.
Of course, 3 [...]
Recently did some testing on the new ASRock X79 Fatal1ty Professional, so I decided to do a video on the UEFI BIOS as well as a quick look at overclocking on the motherboard. The ASRock X79 Fatal1ty Professional features a 16+2 DigiPower VRM design, support for 4 DIMMs of DDR3 2600+ memory, 4 way SLI or CrossFire, and much, much more!
In this video I overclock the Intel Core i7 3960X Extreme Edition to 4.8GHz on the ASRock X79 Fatal1ty Professional motherboard, set the Kingston HyperX Genesis DDR3 2133MHz memory to use the XMP profile, and I do a run through of the ASRock UEFI bios as well.
I conclude the video with a bit of stress testing using AIDA 64 [...]
We recently reviewed ARCTIC’s new flagship GPU cooler, the ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme 7970, and along with that, ARCTIC also gave us the opportunity to check out their new flagship Freezer CPU cooler. What’s interesting about the new Freezer CPU cooler is that they’ve introduced two SKUs of the exact same cooler, whereas one, the i30, is compatible with Intel sockets only while the other, the A30, is compatible with AMD sockets only. Considering most people don’t really need the mounting brackets for both Intel and AMD sockets when purchasing a new CPU cooler, I think this is a pretty wise move by ARCTIC to create less [...]
Here at Custom PC Review, we do a lot of testing. Whether it’s a new graphics card, a new CPU cooler or a new SSD, we test it all. That being said, you’ve probably all built a computer before and you all know how painful it is to have to pull everything apart just to remove a component. We sure do and we wish there were an easier way…
Thankfully, our agony hasn’t gone unnoticed and the guys at HSPC (High Speed PC) have presented us with a solution, the HSPC Top Deck Tech Station. While the HSPC Top Deck Tech Station comes in many sizes to fit many different sized motherboards, [...]
