Another day, another hack. The victim? Popular porn site, xHamster.

According to a recent report from Vice Motherboard, a database of nearly 380,000 xHamster users are being traded on the dark web. The database, which was provided to Vice by LeakBase, contains usernames, e-mails, and poorly encrypted passwords.

Vice Motherboard attempted to verify the usernames and e-mail addresses in the leak by attempting to create accounts on xHamster using the information. In the vast majority of cases, the e-mails and usernames were all taken, which signifies that the usernames and e-mail addresses were legitimately obtained from the database.

Luckily, Vice Motherboard did reach out to xHamster who issued this statement, “The passwords of all xHamster users are properly encrypted, so it is almost impossible to hack them. Thus, all the passwords are safe and the users data secured.”

While the details of when or how the hack occurred is still a mystery, as with any hack it’s important that if you have a xHamster account (even if you don’t want to admit it) or more importantly any other account anywhere using the same credentials that you should change all your passwords as soon as possible.
