CES 2013 is right around the corner and every company is eagerly introducing new products to warm up their booths at what is the biggest North American electronics convention of the year. Among the more recent products announced is MSI’s Slide S20 Ultrabook convertible. Designed for travelling buisnessmen and students, the Slider S20 claims to be powerful, portable and versatile. The Slider S20 is unique in that it’s an Ultrabook slider, which combines the best of both tablets and notebooks by ditching the old clamshell notebook design in favor of a new design where the screen slides up and down in order to switch between tablet and notebook mode. Keyboard when you need it and touchscreen when you don’t.

“Many users prefer the mobility of a tablet, but still need the processing power of an actual laptop computer,” said Andy Tung, vice president of sales for MSI US.  “MSI’s S20 Ultrabook Convertible solves that problem by combining the best of both worlds, giving users the choice of using it as a tablet or as a laptop.”

Just because the Slider S20 has a unique design however, doesn’t mean it’s light on the hardware though. Buried inside its slim, sub 1″ thick 2.2 lb chassis is an Intel Core i5 CPU, 8GB of DDR3 memory, 128GB of SSD storage and a 1920x1080p 10 point touchscreen. In terms of connectivity the Slider S20 will come packed with USB 3.0, Bluetooth, Ethernet, wireless B/G/N (Jackson Peak), and mini HDMI out for good measure.

The Slider S20 is expected to be available Q1 2013 and will retail for around $1,199,99. Full press release in the jump below.
