Paint has been around for 32 years, which is an eon considering how rapidly technology advances. Throughout its existence, its functionality has largely remained the same, giving the current generation of PC users a glimpse into the past. With the emergence of better, feature-rich competitors and a new Paint 3D program containing all of Paint’s functionality, Paint has slowly recessed into the background culminating in Microsoft’s recent decision to deprecate the program.

None the less, some usersĀ still avidly abide by it and when Microsoft announced its depreciation, many users threw a fit. To quell the outrage, Microsoft made a quick announcement ensuring users that Paint will still be alive.

“MS Paint is here to stay, it will just have a new home soon, in the Windows Store where it will be available for free.”

Now we can all breathe a sigh of relief. As a final reminder, Microsoft would like all of its users to know that the new Paint 3D is already here. Now go paint something. With Paint.
