While NVIDIA’s new king, theGeForce GTX 1080 went on sale worldwide on May 27th, many potential buyers were waiting to see the value offered by the less expensive GeForce GTX 1070, before making a decision. Well, today a slew of reviews for NVIDIA’s new prince have been released, and performance is definitely better than we expected. Reviews from some of our favorite place the GTX 1070 at roughly 20% slower (even less depending on resolution) than the GTX 1080 in most modern games, and as much as 15% faster than the GTX 980 Ti, which makes NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1070 one of the best value propositions available.
Here are some of the standout [...]
Reviews for the GTX 1080 are out, and the results are unanimous; NVIDIA’s latest flagship, based on the all-new Pascal architecture, is an absolute beast. Reports from major outlets have been published and their findings are quite impressive: The GTX 1080 outpaces NVIDIA’s GTX 980 Ti by an average of 30%. If that isn’t impressive enough, the card also manages to completely annihilate its predecessor, the GTX 980 by as much as 85% in the latest DirectX 12 titles at 4K resolutions.
Here’s what our friend’s from Hardware Canucks and PC Perspective had to say:
Against the GTX 980 Ti, a card that launched for [...]

Back in late 2012, we rounded up a total of thirteen memory cards from a number of memory card vendors and put them to the test in both synthetic and real world applications. At the time, we tested both SD and CF cards from various vendors to find out which of the cards performed the best, which of the cards provided best value, and at which point do returns begin to diminish in the real world. Ever since we published that article, many of you have asked us for an update which is already in the works pending a couple more samples from various memory card vendors.
Now one type of memory card we’ve never addressed is the [...]
When it comes to professional flash memory products, there definitely aren’t very many product lineups as popular as SanDisk’s Extreme PRO series – and for good reason too.
SanDisk’s Extreme PRO series products tend to feature not only high performance and capacity, but also industry leading warranties that simply aren’t available from competitors. While SanDisk has had Extreme PRO series memory cards for many years, SanDisk has recently begun expanding the Extreme PRO lineup to SSDs and now flash drives as well to provide professionals an easy choice when selecting fast and reliable flash storage.SanDisk [...]
Well, it looks like the rumors regarding Haswell-E are spot on. Intel recently released their new Haswell High End Desktop processors along with the X99 chipset.
Those interested in building the fastest system today, the new Intel Haswell-E processors, Intel X99 based motherboards, and DDR4 memory is now available at your favorite e-tailers.
As previously leaked a couple days back, Intel’s latest chip comes in three varieties ranging from a $999 Intel Core i7 5960X 8-core processor to a surprisingly affordable $389 Intel Core i7 5820K 6-core processor.
Most reviews online are relatively positive stating that while the processor [...]
For most of us, personal data has been increasing at a rapid rate and while cloud services have popped up to help keep all that data synced, nothing really beats keeping a copy of your own data close at hand. With USB 3.0 and its higher bandwidth now becoming more and more mainstream, it’s now far easier to move all that data around.
A couple months ago, we did quite an extensive roundup of the top 64GB USB 3.0 flash drives on the market and while 64GB seems like a lot especially in comparison to what was available only a couple years ago, it’s quite paltry these days, when trying to back up video, pictures, or even a digital game [...]
Up until the release of Sandy Bridge processors back in early 2011, overclocking was something generally reserved for only the most hardcore gamers and enthusiasts who wanted to push their systems to the limits. Overclocking required countless hours of tinkering and testing, which was generally a bit too complicated for mainstream users.
With the release of Sandy Bridge however, the landscape of overclocking has really changed dramatically. Significant overclocks may now be had with simple motherboard overclocking buttons or 5 minute adjustments in the BIOS, which greatly simplified the once complicated and confusing task.
With overclocking [...]

A couple weeks ago, I was talking with a couple colleagues about DSLR cameras, and invariably the topic about high speed SD and CF memory cards came up. What we wanted to know is if a high speed memory card such as the Lexar Professional 1000x CF (Compact Flash) card will actually perform better than a SanDisk Extreme 400x CF card under typical real world conditions. When looking at the price difference between the two cards, the SanDisk Extreme 400X 32GB CF card runs for about $88 while the Lexar Professional 1000x 32GB CF card runs for about $135, that’s a difference of nearly $47!
Since testing only two memory cards seems almost [...]
