MSI Releases Small Form Factor Vortex G25 Gaming Desktop

MSI recently announced the Vortex G25, a small yet powerful gaming PC.

The MSI Vortex G25 is absolutely tiny. It’s slim build is almost reminiscent of a blade server. When stood up vertically, it takes up less space than a gaming console. It’s so compact, in fact, that it can be mounted on a VESA monitor mount. At just 5.51lbs, it won’t rip your monitor apart, either.

The Vortex G25 is outfitted with Intel’s 10th generation “Coffee Lake” CPUs. Users can choose from the Core i7-8700 or the Core i5-8400. Graphics options include either an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or a GeForce GTX 1060. All [...]

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti Confirmed in Latest MSI Afterburner Beta

Information about Nvidia’s upcoming GeForce GTX 1070 Ti has been rumored extensively over the past month, but nothing has been confirmed until now. Some keen observers recently spotted a line in the patch notes for the latest beta of MSI’s Afterburner software which reveals that the GTX 1070 Ti does exist and is likely coming sooner rather than later.

According to the patch notes for MSI Afterburner Beta Version 4.4.0:

“Added core voltage control for reference design NVIDIA GeForce GT 1070 Ti series graphics cards”

*Note there does appear to be a typo in the changelog as it shows GT 1070 Ti rather than GTX 1070 Ti.

The [...]

How to Turn On/Off WiFi

For those with laptops, the easiest way to turn on/off WiFi is to search for the dedicated WiFi or Airplane Mode button/switch located on the laptop.

If there isn’t a physical button/switch, the enable/disable WiFi switch may be a simple combination of the Fn key and a F-key combined. In the case of this MSI GS40 gaming laptop below, the key combination for [...]

As such, rather than publishing another review of Ryzen on motherboards using incomplete BIOS firmware and badly optimized Windows, we decided to wait it out until AMD and its motherboard partners roll out the badly needed updates to allow Ryzen to really shine in all its glory.

As such, today we’ll be finally reviewing the AMD Ryzen 7 1700X and 1800X, the flagship AMD [...]

MSI Throws in Free Optane SSD with Select 200 Series Motherboards

MSI’s latest strategy to boost sales is to leverage Intel’s hot new Optane SSD. All three motherboards are members of MSI’s prestigious gaming series with features such as M.2 slot, military-grade components, and PCIe 3.1 Gen2 support.

The included Optane SSD is a $50 value. Due to its rather low capacity, it’s primarily intended for use as a caching drive. Only Intel’s Z200 series chipsets support this technology, and a BIOS update [...]
