Microsoft has recently slotted yet another addition to its already populated Windows lineup. The Windows 10 Pro Workstation edition brings some trickled down features from the enterprise edition, namely resilient file system support, persistent memory, faster file sharing, and support for server grade hardware.
Resilient file system (ReFS) uses a host of techniques to make data more fault tolerant. It can automatically perform auto correction using mirrored storage space and integrity streams. It’s also optimized for handling large data volumes.
Persistent memory uses non-volatile memory modules (NVDIMM-N) to store data and is designed for applications [...]
Torrents have gotten a bad rap over the years as a platform for sharing illegal movies, music, TV shows, and software, but they have quite a few legitimate uses as well. For example individual developers, content creators and non-profit organizations can simply set up a Torrent, share it with a couple people and let it self propagate, significantly reducing the cost overhead of purchasing file hosting or content delivery.
However, unlike traditional file delivery methods such as through HTTP/HTTPS or through FTP, in order to download a Torrent file, a Torrent client is needed and of course not all Torrent clients are created equal. As such, today we’ll be [...]
If you’ve ever plugged a Windows 10 system into a network or joined a Wi-Fi connection with Windows 10, one of the first things you’ve probably seen is a prompt which pops out on the right hand side of the screen asking whether you’d like to allow your PC to be discoverable by other PCs and devices on the network. The prompt may look something like this.
If you click yes, Windows 10 sets the network to a private network, which allows the system to be discoverable by other devices and allows the system to discover other devices as well. If you select no, or click anywhere else on the screen, the system will default to a public network so [...]

Over the past few years, video surveillance has become increasingly popular in homes and businesses, and the reason for this is simple. Years ago, installing a video surveillance system typically involved hardwiring every single camera to a DVR and only those who purchased expensive higher end DVRs could then watch the footage on their laptops or smartphones. As you can imagine, this is both costly and impractical especially for an average home or small business owner.
Recently, things are much different thanks to the explosion of the IoT market as new solutions have made video surveillance affordable and easy to setup. As such, today we’ll be showing [...]
Over the past couple years, a number of companies that have traditionally been geared towards producing computer hardware have shifted their focus a bit to the mobile device market and have unveiled wireless storage devices aimed at mobile users. These devices are generally battery powered and include some sort of wireless functionality that allow PCs and mobile devices to connect to them. Kingston for example has the Wi-Drive, Patriot has their Gauntlet, Corsair recently introduced their Voyager Air, and now ADATA has the DashDrive Air. While all of these devices serve a similar purpose, they all have unique features that set [...]
