AMD Ryzen 7 1700X and 1800X Review

The AMD Ryzen Flagships

AMD launched their newest Ryzen CPUs to great fanfare back in March and while we found performance to be good in our launch review of the Ryzen 1700, we noted that there were quite a few growing pains that needed to be fixed before Ryzen could really shine against Intel. As such, rather than publishing another review of Ryzen on motherboards using incomplete BIOS firmware and badly optimized Windows, we decided to wait it out until AMD and its motherboard partners roll out the badly needed updates to allow Ryzen to really shine in all its glory.

As such, today we’ll be finally reviewing the AMD Ryzen 7 1700X and 1800X, the flagship AMD [...]

Civilization VI announced for October 2016

Fans of the addictive turn-based strategy game were greeted with a teaser trailer for the forthcoming entry in the beloved series. Destined for release on the 21st of October, the two-minute trailer, narrated by Sean Bean shows no gameplay footage of any kind, a common characteristic of previous game announcements. Firaxis, developers of 2010’s Civilization V, have promised that there will be no significant changes to the new game, instead opting for gameplay features that keep players “on their toes”. Features such as sidequests and less sporadic AI will be added, along with a heavier emphasis on city planning and contextual technology trees (where new [...]

Review: Fallout 4 PC

Another Fallout Game…

Fallout 4 is the younger, cockier child of the prestigious Fallout family. The family is one of the more successful and beloved gaming franchises on the market, with big brothers Fallout 3 and New Vegas selling millions of copies and inspiring modding communities years after their release. Meanwhile, Fallout 4 hangs out with celebrities and parks his Porsche in two different parking spots because he can. There are some slight spoilers in this review, but by time you’re reading this everyone will pretty much know the gist of the story anyway.

The Story We Tell Ourselves

What are Fallout games about? If you asked me, which I just [...]

Steam Releases Steam Controller Demo Video

Valve has just released a video showing its recently announced Steam Controller in action. The video demonstrates the Steam Controller’s unique controls style in four different titles.

Portal 2 is up first. We can see that the two trackpads simulates a typical keyboard and mouse combo. The demo is shown on a legacy version of the game with no modifications added to support controller.

Next is Civilization 5, a RTS normally restricted only to your desktop unless you’re willing to deal with a clunky mouse and keyboard on the couch. Finding a surface for the mouse to work on can also be challenging. The Steam Controller shows us that it can remove that [...]

CES 2013: Razer Edge Gaming Tablet Hands On, First Impressions

For over the past decade, Razer has become on of the most well known gaming peripheral manufacturers in the world, which is why when Razer decided in late 2011 to jump in headfirst as a systems integrator with the custom designed Razer Blade, I was quite skeptical. After all, it’s not everyday you see a company go out and spend the R&D to custom design a new laptop from the ground up. However to my surprise, despite the Blade’s exorbitant pricing, under-powered specifications, and so-so reviews by many media outlets, the first generation Razer Blade was actually very well received by the market thanks to its sleek, unique, portable, and very exclusive design [...]
