AMD 16-Core Threadripper Will Cost $999, Undercutting Intel Core i9 by $700

AMD has always been aggressive in terms of pricing. AMD Ryzen chips already undercut their Intel Core i7 counterparts by hundreds of dollars and it looks like AMD’s upcoming Threadripper CPUs are about to do the exact same to Intel’s Core i9 chips as well.

Today, AMD revealed pricing for their upcoming Threadripper 1950X and Threadripper 1920X CPUs, which significantly undercuts Intel’s recently launched Core i9 series processors.

The pricing for AMD Ryzen Threadripper is as follows:

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X (16-Core/32-Thread, 3.4GHz/4.0GHz) – $999 AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920X (12-Core/24-Thread, 3.5GHz/4.0GHz) – [...]

AMD Scores Major Win in Dell Inspiron 5675 Gaming Desktop at E3 2017

There’s no argument that Alienware’s Area 51 Gaming PC is an excellent platform for AMD’s upcoming Ryzen Threadripper debut, but it seemed odd that AMD would make Alienware the initial exclusive big box retailer to carry the processor yet allow Alienware to not be exclusive to AMD Threadripper in return. Dell’s new Inspiron 5675 Gaming Desktop may explain why.

While the Alienware Area 51 clearly took the spotlight at E3, Dell also more quietly revealed the Inspiron 5675 Gaming Desktop at the booth next door. While the Inspiron 5675 Gaming Desktop isn’t as attention grabbing as the Alienware Area 51, it’s still very [...]

AMD Shows Off Ryzen Threadripper CPU at E3 2017

As AMD had already made all their big announcements at Computex, their presence at E3 was fairly limited to supporting their OEM partner, Alienware, which had recently announced their Area 51 Gaming PC supporting AMD’s new HEDT Ryzen Threadripper platform.

At the show, AMD brought along some of their new Threadripper CPUs to show off, giving us an opportunity to take a closer look at an early engineering sample of the massive Threadripper chip in all its glory.

Aside from the sheer size, which is due to Threadripper being essentially two Ryzen dies on a single chip, the most interesting aspect of the Threadripper chip is that [...]

Ever since AMD showed off its Radeon RX 480 at Computex 2016, gamers have been eagerly waiting to see the rest of its lineup. And what better place to show off the whole family than the gaming event dedicated to PC gamers?

At the AMD sponsored PC Gaming show, AMD CEO Lisa Su unveiled some additional members of the RX 400 series graphics cards. Newly joining the RX 480 is the RX 470 and the RX 460.

Nothing was said about the RX 470 besides that it would target 1080p gaming at 60Hz. Based on that bit of info alone, it’s a good guess that it will be powered by the Polaris 10 GPU. Since the RX 460 was announced to carry a TDP of >75W, we can [...]

AMD Announces XConnect External GPU Support Over Thunderbolt 3

In an incredible move, AMD has announced its support for External GPU via Thunderbolt 3 graphic docks.

External graphics docks aim to bring huge boosts in gaming performance to power-sipping ultrabooks and notebooks. Leveraging a fully-fledged desktop graphics card docked in a thunderbolt enclosure, users can easily convert their workstations into a gaming rig at the plug of a cable. This is thanks to both Intel giving the nod to external graphics with the release of Thunderbolt 3 and AMD’s efforts in developing the necessary firmware and drivers.

The advantages are obvious. External graphics card offers the best flexibility for work and play. Once refined, [...]

Asus’s New GX700: Water Cooled Mobile Monster

With the upcoming IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung) Consumer Electronic Show in Berlin set to begin on September 4th, many companies have begun to announce their latest products. One of the notable announcements came from Asus with a new flagship gaming laptop, the GX700.
