New Workstation choosing components

Recommended Posts

Hello CPCR, I am a student in 3D Animation, primarily focussing on modeling/sculpting, shading & rendering, VFX/dynamics and video editing. I use programs such as Maya, Zbrush, Primiere, Nuke/After Effects, Photoshop.. rendering with Mental Ray or VRay depending on projects. I used a laptop the 1st schoolyear but it is not optimal for my projects so i'm planning to get a workstation, though my knowledge about computers are close to nul. So i came here to seek some advice. My budget is 1750 ($2400) max. I'm planning on buying everything on, since they offer to assemble the PC for a small fee and they offer most of the items for a relatively cheap price. Also if I buy everything in one place the warranty is too, makes things a little more convenient. So i basically went through most of the High End recommendations from: My currently chosen components are CPU - 529,- Intel Core i7-4930 Motherboard - 329,- ASUS X79 Delux Memory - 254,- Corsair 16 GB DDR3-1866 Quad-Kit Graphics Card - 434,- Nvidia Quadro K2000 Boot Drive - 154,90 Samsung 840 Pro 256GB Storage Drive - 72,90 Seagate Barracude 7200.14, 2TB Optical Drive - 24,99 ASUS DRW-24F1ST, DVD-Burner PSU - 179,90 Seasonic X-850 Case - 67,90 Corsair Carbide 300R (they diddnt have 750D) CPU Cooler - 84,90 Corsaire Hydro Series H80i Operating System - (free) Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit TOTAL: 2131.49 So I am about 380,- over my budget, my question is on what components can i save this, considering modeling/sculpting and shading/rendering is my top priority? Please consider that I buy everything from Thanks in advance!
