Max Keyboard Group Buy Thread #11

Recommended Posts

Group buy #10 is over, and I'm still getting a ton of requests for #11, so here it is guys. Still can't believe it's been 11 group buys. Crazy! Again, it's 20% for either the Nighthawk X8/X9 or Durandal G1N/G1NL if we can get 10. Yes, they ship to different addresses, yes they ship worldwide, and yes international warranty is covered. Be sure to check on their website for shipping cost as it's pretty expensive if you live overseas. You will have to be able to ship it back to them at your own expense though, so it may not be worth it. Also, per previous experiences with the other group buy, the 20% off will cover ANYTHING you buy on the site, so if you add custom LEDs, keycaps and stuff, it will all be 20% off. Full details / restrictions on this at the Max Keyboard website. Max Keyboard Group Buy 20% Discount! | Max Keyboard Blog

I'm in! I'm looking to get a Nighthawk x8 with blue backlighting. Their website says they are out of stock for that particular color, however a very speedy customer service reply says that they should be restocking shortly this month. FYI for all of those who might be interested in the blue.

OP Updated.

I'm interested in an X8 with white LED, but how does payment work for the group buy? Also, it tells me UPS Ground shipping is $14.35. Surely this can't be right, is it?
From previous group buys, I just get a list of coupon codes for all of you once the group buy fills up and you guys just apply it at checkout. You pay Max Keyboard directly. Not sure about shipping since it depends on where you live, but that sounds about right. Mechanical keyboards are heavy and Max Keyboard has an unnecessarily huge box for their keyboards.

I'm thinking about doing a custom LED setup too, but I am not sure yet. I am thinking having blue or orange LEDs for the #1-0 keys and white LEDs for everything else might be pretty nice and also functional. Does anyone know how hard it is to swap out the LEDs yourself on these keyboards? Where do you buy the LEDs and how much do they cost?

As far as swapping LEDs out, I have no idea how that's done. Maybe I'll take the keyboard apart if I get some time. I'm sure you can ask the guys over at Max Keyboard though. They're pretty cool so they might tell you how it's done. Over on their site they do sell keyswitches though if you want to replace that yourself. Thanks for the reply, Sam. For anyone wondering, I did ask the guys over at Max and their response was: "we do not recommend customer to DIY for customization LED, as it will void the warranty and also it could damage some components."

Good to know. The LEDs are probably soldered on or something I guess... Thanks for the info. Also, all PMs have been replied. If you PMed me and haven't received a response, go ahead and shoot me another one.
