  1. I am setting up a workstation server with the following components (plese find the attachment). I would like to get suggestions from experienced Tech GURUs. Considering this specification, will the presence or absence of Intel optane make difference in performance?. I think the data transfer between the DDR4 2400 and M.2 will be fast enough and Intel optain might remain unused. What do you guys experienced in real life experiments?. Any suggestion on betterment this specs or any missing things are highly appreciated. Thanking you in advance.

  3. Hello, I'm building a server for a small charity organization. The server will work about 16 hours/day. It uses Ubunti 14 server. Odoo 9, Postures 9.4, Python 2.7 are the main services will be installed in the server. The server should just connected to few terminals, not a huge network, just 10~20 computers. I need about 60 GB SSD. Here is the build, please give me you opinions. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vZnyHN Thank you.

  5. I'd like to build a solid dual core xeon workstation for 3d graphics. The applications I would run on this would be graphic apps like Maya, Houdini and Nuke. I'm not interested going into a Quadro card solution. I choose 1080 cause it seems the most optimal compromise between cost and performance for CUDA power. I choose 2x 8 cores CPU cause the 16 cores counterpart seems to cost a lot more money. I would use Linux 99% of times, but it'll be a dual boot system (Linux + Win). Do you think this choice would make sense for my needs? Do you see anything wrong in this config? Anything you would add? http://pcpartpicker.com/user/alexpepe/saved/3s8Mpg I used to build by own boxes 10 years ago and I'm a bit rusty on the new technology. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

  9. I have been using Macs the last 13 years for editing and motion graphics. Recently Macs are becoming less and less upgradable and financially unviable and I want to switch to PC but have no idea where to start. It is like learning a whole new language, especially trying to "build" a work station. I am coming off using a Mac Pro (late 2013), My main programs of use are Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop. My secondary are Cinema 4D, Nuke and Moca. I have around $3.5K budget and am looking for: 32GB Ram 8-10 cores SSD for main drive I use 2 monitors (DP) I have heard good things about AMD FirePro W8100 but again this is all new to me. any help would be much appreciated.
