First Time Build - Advice Would Be Nice
TodayGamerLive replied to TodayGamerLive's topic in PC Builds and Upgrades
I have been thinking about this more. I want a good quality computer for a cheaper price: Processor: Intel Core i7 2600k ($260 from microcenter) or i7 2700k ($280 from there) RAM (16GB): http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Channel-Memory- CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B/dp/B004RFBIUU/ref=pd_rhf_ee_shvl1 ($97 from newegg or amazon) Harddrive (2TB): something around $100-120 (saves money from $160 3TB seagate barracuda I was going to get) Boot drive (128GB): Crucial M4. It's $140. Going to look for sales hopefully as low as $100 Motherboard: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Newegg.com - ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard ($130 on Newegg) Case: CM 690 II Advanced Mid Tower ATX Computer Case ($68 on microcenter after rebate, $88 before) Micro Center - Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced Mid Tower ATX Computer Case RC-692-KKN2 Power supply (650W): Newegg.com - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 650W ATX12V v2.31/ EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC High Performance Power Supply ($80 from newegg) Drive: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, Laptops, Electronics, HDTVs, Digital Cameras and More! 247&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=- 1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=1#scrollFullInfo ($18 from newegg) Cooler: Micro Center - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus Universal CPU Cooler RR-B10-212P-G1 ($20 from microcenter) Graphics Card: 7850 2 GB about $270 or so I am trying to find a good 2TB harddrive as low as possible in price. I know this one Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more! Item=N82E16822148681&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL050412&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL050412-_-EMC- 050412-Index-_-InternalHardDrives-_-22148681-L0B is $110 at newegg right now, but a lot of people seem to have problems with it. I have gone to looking at a much cheaper motherboard. Some of my friends recommended ASRock to me. Is this a good motherboard for my build? I was originally going to go with a HAF 922 or something like that, but I saw that the CM 690 II is on sale. I have heard good things about it. The part I am least sure about is the graphics card. Lately, I have been thinking a 7850. I do not want to go overboard on price. With all these parts, it would be around $1200. Another HUGE question I have is this: how big is the benefit of the i7's hyperthreading in video editing. That is one of the uses for my build. I have found a z77 board (Z77 Pro4-M) and i5 3570k that I can get together for $250 from microcenter (saves about $145 there) Micro Center - ASRock Z77 Pro4-M 1155 mATX Intel Motherboard 380923 and Micro Center - Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz LGA 1155 Processor 407627 If I went this route instead of the i7 and ASRock z68, this build would be about $1050 -
and lots of other deals: 180GB SSD for $150 after $30 MIR, 2TB harddrive for $110, cheaper electronics, SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold 650W SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply for $100, motherboards on sale, etc.. They need promo codes, so if anyone wants them, just ask. Too many to post

Recording with Fraps (SSD's)

I've heard the exact same thing before. And as PC_user said it's not that good for SSD's. They aren't really meant for things to be constantly written to them. -
Gaming pc for my girlfriend, need some advice.
TodayGamerLive replied to NooklearToaster's topic in PC Builds and Upgrades
idk if it still works but the coupon code EMCYTZT1523 takes $50 off the 6950. It makes it $200 on newegg, and it comes with free shipping + FREE GIFT: AMD Gift - Dirt3 Game Coupon (value:$49.99) -
It's an interesting change, but it seems like they are just adding halo to call of duty. It started with game modes from halo and now this. Also, I can't remember a time when a reveal trailer's graphics matched the actual graphics of a call of duty game?

Redid it. This time I went for accuracy, going back and fixing mistakes that I caught: Not that great... I have a terrible keyboard.
