Nature vs Amazon Cloud – Instagram, Pinterest, Netflix Down

Anybody tried to access Instagram within the past couple hours? Get a strange error?

According to a recent post over at Forbes, Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud in North Virginia went down at 11:21 PM EST yesterday due to inclement weather in the D.C. area, taking with it many of the world’s largest web services including Netflix, Pinterest, and Instagram.

Of the many services to go down, among the first to return was video streaming giant Netflix, who as of approximately 6 hours ago at ~1:15 AM EST, came back online. At the time, Pinterest and Instagram were [...]

ASUS Preparing Radeon HD 7850 DirectCU II Dragon Edition

Those fans of the awesome ASUS Direct CU II cards are in for a real treat today!

According to a recent article over at Videocardz, it seems probable that ASUS is preparing a new AMD based DirectCU II card, the Radeon HD 7850 DirectCU II Dragon Edition. What makes the dragon edition different? Well, it’s got a core clock of 910 MHz, 2GB of GDDR5 clocked at 1250MHz (5000 MHz effective). Additionally, it looks like the Dragon Edition is using a single heatsink with three large heatpipes as well (8mm perhaps?) instead of two heatsinks connected via heatpipes as seen from current generation DirectCU II coolers. It will also feature dual [...]

Razer Taipan Expert Ambidextrous Gaming Mouse Review

Balance is the Key

Earlier this month, I was pretty excited to attend E3 for the first time and while it was nice seeing all the new game announcements at the show, I just had to make it my top priority to visit the Razer booth first. After all, I admit. I’m a hardware guy. Entering the Razer booth for the first time, I noticed that there were two main products on display. The first was a mouse which at first glance looked a bit like the Imperator and the other of course was a strange joystick, LCD, numpad contraption that I had never seen before. Safe to say, I was quite intrigued by both products.

After speaking with some of the Razer representatives at the [...]

Max Keyboard (Tesoro) Durandal G1N & Durandal Ultimate G1NL Mechanical Keyboard Review

Gaming Keyboard Fit for Battle

Not too long ago, we reviewed the Nighthawk X8 and the Nighthawk X9, which were a couple very impressive mechanical keyboards from a relatively unknown company at the time, Max Keyboard. Since our inaugural review, we’ve been following the company very closely, and when they recently told us that they wanted to introduce a couple new mechanical keyboards, the Durandal G1N and the Durandal G1NL, we were definitely ready to check them out.

As many of you know, Max Keyboard’s original offerings, the Nighthawk series, were pretty high end mechanical keyboards. Priced at near $150, the keyboards offered tons of high end features [...]
