Sporting a rather clean industrial-style design with a black and red finish, the PNY GeForce GTX 1080 XLR8 OC features a triple 80 mm fan configuration which stay completely off while the GPU is at idle. According to a recent report from Infiniti Research, the global GPU market is expected to surpass 67.71 million units by 2020.
Although hardly surprising, driving growth of the GPU market will be due in large part to the increasing adoption of integrated GPUs especially in notebooks which has accounted for more than 63% of total marketshare in 2015. Intel has been bundling their integrated GPUs with their mainstream processors for years in both desktop and notebook parts while AMD’s APUs have become one of their best selling products in both the desktop and notebook space which offers excellent value proposition for budget and midrange systems.
Nvidia recently settled the GeForce GTX 970 false advertising class action lawsuit that was brought against the company in 2015 after it was found that they had misrepresented the amount of onboard VRAM that was in the graphics card. Although Nvidia has denied doing anything wrong, they settled the case back in July granting those who purchased a GTX 970 between September 1, 2014 and August 24, 2016 a $30 settlement.
If you qualify, simply head over to the website www.gtx970settlement.com which will allow you to file a claim. While you may file an unlimited number of claims, each claim must also include proof of purchase.

So far, NVIDIA has introduced a number of cards based on its latest Pascal micro-architecture. Including, Titan Pascal, GTX 1080, GTX 1070 and GTX 1060 6GB and 3GB variants. With those models, NVIDIA is able to cover price segments from $1,200 all the way down to $190, however until now the company seemed unwilling to bring their latest tech into the sub-$200 market where AMD currently offers a number of solutions including the $179 RX 470 and the $119 RX 460. Mercury Research recently released their analysis of 2Q2016 market report for the GPU market and it contains quite possibly the best news we’ve heard for AMD in a very long time.
According to the report, AMD’s average total market share increased for the first time in 4 years for both desktop and mobile segments. The last time an uptick in AMD’s GPU market share happened was during the GPU cryptocurrency mining craze back in 2012. As discrete desktop GPUs drove most of this growth in market share, this is likely due in large part to AMD’s strategic launch of mainstream Polaris GPUs which has seen unwavering demand [...]
Although GDDR5X has only just recently hit the market, GDDR6 is already on the way and Samsung recently took the opportunity to share some information on the upcoming memory standard at the HotChips conference currently taking place in Cupertino, CA.
According to Samsung’s presentation at the show, GDDR6 will start at 14Gbps and is expected to reach 16Gbps at its full potential, which higher than the 14Gbps GDDR5X is expected to reach at its full potential. Current generation Micron GDDR5X being used on Nvidia’s recently launched GeForce Titan X is only capable of up to 10Gbps. GDDR6 will be rated at 1.35v, which is the same as GDDR5x. However, [...]
Nvidia recently launched the GeForce GTX 1060 3GB which was confirmed at a Chinese tech conference not too long ago.
Whereas in previous generation cards, a difference in onboard memory is just a difference in onboard memory, the new GeForce GTX 1060 3GB not only has just 3GB GDDR5 memory, but it also has one of its SM units disabled giving it just 1152 CUDA cores rather than the 1280 on the full GP106 die. Other specifications include a 192-bit memory interface, 48 ROPs, and 72 TMUs.
