Review: Cougar 250M Optical Gaming Mouse

Budget Friendly Mouse

Gaming mice come in various price tiers and we are often too caught up in the bells and whistle featured on flagship models. It’s always nice to see companies return to the basics with entry level products that deliver the necessary fundamental features at an affordable price. However, designing an affordable gaming mouse brings with it an unique set of challenges as tradeoffs occur and manufacturers have to strike a balance between cost and performance. Keeping that in mind, let’s review the Cougar 250M gaming mouse.

Review: SteelSeries Rival Gaming Mouse

All Barebone, No Frills

While the gaming peripherals market is saturated with all the mice one could possibly want , we always welcome a good blend of price and performance. Introducing the SteelSeries Rival, a basic, bare-bone mice from SteelSeries that has a few nifty surprises under its hood.

There’re several interesting specs worth mentioning. Instead of using AVAGO sensors like many of today’s gaming mice, the Rival touts the Pixart PWM 3310 Optical sensor with max DPI of 6400. Since it uses the tried and true optical technology, in theory, it should have very little to no acceleration. The sensor isn’t the Rival’s only highlight; It also [...]

Review: Razer Chroma DeathAdder, BlackWidow Ultimate, Kraken 7.1

Full Spectrum Gaming

At CES 2014 earlier this year, Cherry Corporation and Corsair made a huge splash in the world of gaming peripherals by introducing the world’s first RGB LED backlit mechanical gaming keyboard. At the time it was quite revolutionary since prior to the introduction, mechanical keyboards only came with either one or sometimes two single color LEDs which just doesn’t give users much choice when it comes to color customization.

While Corsair and Cherry took the spotlight at the beginning of the year, it really didn’t take very long for competing companies to catch up, with Razer first introducing their first RGB backlit peripherals back in [...]
